It’s already 6 months since we lost Øfdream. A friend for some, a collaborator for others, but a Wave music pioneer and legend for everyone. For me, he is among the ones who showed me the way when I was lost and in search of a new identity. Ofdream’s music has been able to sync with my necessities and my feelings like few others, playing a key part in my “fall” into the beautiful Wave universe. I lost count of the moments I’ve spent indulging on the landscapes painted by his music, the evocative power will forever resonate in me.
Right after his passing, many stood up to keep his legacy alive. Both The Playground and The accidental poet dropped their own tributes, wavepool has shown is support and those close to him have even released an open google drive where fans can find artworks, demos, samples and previously unreleased tracks.
Now, right before the end of this 2019, it’s the turn of the biggest initiative to date. Officially released by vibe. digital, ‘Forver Ø’ sees close friends, fellow collaborators and artists Øfdream used to love, joining together in unison, creating an album full of exclusive tracks in his honor and to support the research and prevention of mental health issues. With Skeler, Sorsari, enjoii and brothel listed in the tracklist among many others, Forver Ø is an all star parade which provides 18 exceptional anthems. Trust me when I tell you that they’re one better than the other. Diving through this album is like wandering in the dark halls of a museum, where emotions and feeling have been molded and crystallized in sempiternel pieces of art. From my point of view as reviewer and fan, ‘I’m Free’, ‘Miss You,’ ‘Sorry,’ ‘Glass’ are the highlights of the compilations, while ‘eyesfromyou’ definitely takes the crown.
All profits will be donated to the Pierre Deniker Foundation, a french non-profit institution dedicated to fighting against discrimination, refuting misinformation and ending the stigma attached to mental disorders. A theme that sadly is relevant more than ever within the music scene. Remember to always talk to your family and friends about your thoughts. Asking for help is always a good idea. Spread love and care all around you. Be there.
