Jaenga Adds Nostalgic Dubstep Touch To ‘Primitive’ EP

by Steph Contant

Since Jaenga‘s introduction to the world through the Toulambi EP late last year, the New York-based producer has made waves in the underground bass scene with eclectic releases true to his style. Today, Jaenga returns to his roots while staying in line with his vision with his sophomore project titled the Primitive EP.

Writing the ‘Primitive’ EP took me back to the roots of underground NY dubstep culture. Pushing boundaries and starting movements, employing simplistic vocals, and heavy rolling bass lines,” Jaenga states about his new project. With ‘Feel So Good’ and ‘Mind Shaker,’ the versatile bass producer embodies this old school flavour with ease, evoking a sense of nostalgia as soon as the lead synths hit, while the addition of the poignant samples repeating the track titles further this sentiment of the early days of dubstep. As the drops come to light, listeners are immediately transported to 2010 as Jaenga is not overbearing or too complex with his ideas yet he executes the melodiousness and wobbly nature of the tracks with ease. Finally, with ‘On To The Next One,’ listeners are brought back to the present with modern freeform ideas bringing the project to a close.

Sure to impress all fans of bass music, the Primitive EP is Jaenga at his finest. Don’t miss it below!
