Result Makes A Bass Statement With ‘Manticore’ EP

by Steph Contant

Croatian producer Result has been hard at work developing his sound ever since posting his first track on SoundCloud almost three years ago today. Despite finding a niche signature within the realm of drum & bass, we’ll go ahead and claim that Result is the future of bass music in general, and his latest Manticore EP is proof.

When the Manticore EP was first sent to us, we were taken aback by the versatility and complexity of the project from an artist with a mere one thousand followers on SoundCloud – a testament to numbers being overrated. The opening track titled ‘Steel Face’ is a dubstep heater that boasts sound design reminiscent of Moody Good yet is unique enough to stand on its own through its unrelenting barrage of piercing bass. The project’s title track follows in a further onslaught on halftime madness. As the EP progresses, the level of detail and meticulousness only grows, from the neurofunk brain-melter that is ‘Heisenberg’ to the equally intense ‘Babaroga.’ With scheme and PKT lending a helping hand on the closing track ‘Antithesis,’ listeners are cautioned to strap in for a wild ride.
