Sam Delgado, also known by his producer name bd hbt, has become a household name in the thriving underground trap world and one of the favorites on FUXWITHIT. Boasting consistently impressive tracks that can vary from exquisitely heavy to delightfully smooth, he can confidently conquer whichever style he chooses to work with. With the start of a new year, there’s always pressure and tension among producers to come out of the gates swinging, and boy did he not disappoint. We’ve had the pleasure of premiering his start to this year’s sonic campaign in the form of ‘Iron Giant’, the first release in a string of subsequent releases for the illustrious Trap Party’s freshman compilation album.
‘Iron Giant’ opens with soundbites that both create an air of mystery, and quicken your pulse, using military-esque speak that has a grainy radio effect, reminiscent of any good monster movie. Once you’re firmly aware that something massive is coming, the stage is set for your ears to be whisked away by an absolutely relentless drop. When the monster finally shows itself in its true form, it’s game over, as the immense sound design and the punishing switch-ups will leave your city in rubble and your consciousness fried like an egg. With the second drop being an even bigger fest of crunchiness, you’ll be doing your best impression of a squid, limbs wildly wiggling all about.
If ‘Iron Giant’ is any indication of what bd hbt has coming for us all next, we’re in for a collective treat, as his growth from last year to now is easily heard, with both his sounds and his creativity being turned up to 11. For fans of all things trap, he should be a no-brainer for acts you’ll readily pay to see in your city, and immediately click on their tracks in your SoundCloud feed. The rest of 2020 is blindingly bright, but for now check out ‘Iron Giant‘ in all its glory for yourself below!
