When ‘Insane’ was first teased in Calcium‘s Teeth N’ Bones Vol. 4 mix late last year, we were blown away by the monstrous impact of the track. The pairing of the soothing vocals that build the energy gradually from a melody-driven piece to a catastrophic dubstep banger is unparalleled in today’s sound design-focused scene, and we’ve been itching for the full release ever since. Luckily, the anticipation was not too drawn out, as ‘Insane’ with Dion Timmer is out today in full and exceeds all expectations.
The introduction seems heavily influenced by Dion Timmer, as ethereal synths and the processing of Celestic’s vocals are taken right from his repertoire. Long but not drawn out, the opening sets the stage for the insanity (no pun intended) that follows, as Calcium’s influence comes to light around the seventy-five-second mark. A crisp build up brings about the chaos that both producers are known to deliver, with maniacal gunshots and rattling basses driving ‘Insane’ forward. In the second half of the track, the essence of the introduction returns before additional madness is unleashed.
A well-rounded track balancing beauty and chaos, ‘Insane’ is sure to become a 2020 favourite. Don’t miss it below.
