PREMIERE: tapecut Returns With New Heater ‘tengaah’

by Colin

After a quiet back half of 2019, tapecut is starting off the new year making some serious noise with his new single ‘tengaah.’ “It’s difficult to describe, but I think that this is a flight of thoughts that dissipates like a bunch and then gathers in one place called drop,” tapecut tells about the new release. Opening quietly, the enchanting synths gradually fade in, almost like thoughts transitioning from your subconscious to conscious mind. As time passes, the haze begins to roll away and everything become increasingly clearer. ‘tengaah’ builds with precise purpose before the acapella vocal sample that inspired the track’s name provides a tribal vibe and feeds into the drop. The first drop is beastly; wonky bass and pristine percussion intertwine with perfectly sprinkled in “damn” and “shit” samples that embody the listeners likely reactions to hearing this one. The break brings down the energy and ramps up with a cinematic approach. An “I wanna hear the drop” vocal leads listeners into the hard-hitting finale that caps things off flawlessly.

“In 2019, a lot happened in my life and there were very few releases. I want to adjust the balance and please my listeners more often,” tapecut tells us about his plans for this year. Given the impressiveness of ‘tengaah,’ we couldn’t be happier to hear he intends to be releasing a lot more. Stream below.
