Graphyt was the dark horse of Never Say Die: Black Label in 2019. From the riveting ‘Evolution‘ to the Colossus EP and a few other contributions to the esteemed label and beyond, the French artist established himself as a mainstay in the heavy bass scene through consistently mesmerizing pieces. Picking up right where he left off, Graphyt returns to the Black Label later this week with his Outer Space EP, and we have the honour of premiering the eclectic ‘Frequency Shifter’ alongside PIERCE ahead of the full release.
“I was watching PIERCE in a livestream one time and I was thinking ‘damn, he’s really good.’ So, I wrote a comment to him and he directly replied to me. After that we just got to talking and eventually decided to launch a collaboration,” Graphyt states about how he and PIERCE first started working together. “He started the track off, using the idea of creating all of the sound design with an effect called ‘frequency shifter.’ The first synths came out sounding really sick, so I decided to continue the idea and worked my sound design mostly with the frequency shifter – hence the name of the track,” the French producer adds.
‘Frequency Shifter’ is a harmonic display of Graphyt and PIERCE’s undeniable chemistry. The introduction captivates your intrigue with its ominous aura and catchy samples, before the track is quickly catapulted into pure dubstep insanity. Not too complex with its ideas yet perfect with its execution, the bass-heavy sections are sure to crack your neck. Keeping things fresh as the track progresses, PIERCE’s influence comes to light through the trap-leaning percussion layered below the dominating synths.
Don’t miss Graphyt and PIERCE’s ‘Frequency Shifter’ below and stay tuned for the rest of the Outer Space EP, out tomorrow.
