FRQ NCY’s ‘Love+Hate’ Makes Valentine’s Day Heavy

by Alex Bell

Chaz Hayley, also known as FRQ NCY, has been serving up titillating beats to bass deprived ears for years now, with complex soundscapes and robust sampling being at the forefront of his game. He’s received major attention for his Lil Uzi Vert flip, and his fantastically detailed piece ‘Is There Anybody Out There?‘ just to name a few. Now he charges forward in his 2020 campaign with a gift to all the lovers out there on Valentine’s Day, the double sided ‘Love+Hate,’ released on the ever impressive Bassrush.

The opening of ‘Love+Hate’ is a pallet cleanser for the soul, immediately catching your attention with a looped and echo’d melody with hip-hop undertones. This culminates in an overall beat that is equal parts dancey and beautiful, an instant mood-booster. ‘Love + Hate’ is played out in the drop with a constant back and forth with grimy bass lines and drawn out airy segments, resembling both love and hate in equal parts. The title along with how the song plays out creates this genius sonic play that tells a palpable story. This is cheekily a fantastically genius idea, and shows a level of craftsmanship and ingenuity that assuredly makes FRQ NCY stand out from the crowd. The level of polish that’s been attained while still incorporating so many different elements makes it rather absurd how well this song flows,a grade-A bop if you’ve ever heard one.

FRQ NCY already had one successful release on Bassrush 2 weeks ago with ‘Rubber Band‘ on their The Prophecy Vol. 1 collaborative album, and now he’s done it once again. With multiple banging tracks already under his belt in 2020, 2020 could be a very big year for this youthful artist. Check out ‘Love+Hate’ for yourself below!
