Kosmic Kingdom has developed and progressed at an astounding rate since it first originated in 2014. Now occupying Sleepy Hollow Renaissance Park in Des Moines, Iowa as the grounds for the event, Kosmic Kingdom presents a cross-genre, multicultural gathering of art and music enthusiasts alike. Timed to be an outstanding springboard into the warm weather and festivities that tend to mark the passage of winter, Kosmic Kingdom is set to span the length of the May 29th-30th weekend, providing an ideal outing to welcome the warmer season.
Only a short 10-minute trek from Des Moines, Sleepy Hollow Renaissance Park features a variety of medieval-themed buildings, including a number of fully-functioning castle stages that help further the middle-aged thematics for the event. While each stage may be modest in respective sizes, the overwhelming medieval symmetry, the distinctly audible clarity of Hennessey Sound Design, and well-curated lights and visuals all contribute to a sense of intimacy and comradery that is unrivaled elsewhere.
One aspect that truly distinguishes Kosmic Kingdom from the masses, is a vivid propensity to combine both the visual and audio aspects of art. Returning in 2020, the Royal Arts Gallery is set to feature an assortment of interactive, live-action art installations and demonstrations, which can range anywhere from canvas paintings to live fire-spinning performances.
This year’s lineup for Kosmic Kingdom is loaded to the gills. Featuring Space Jesus & Peekaboo as the respective headlining acts, as well as LSDREAM and Rusko as the featured special guests to ensure that each evening concludes in spectacular fashion. A truly outspoken cast of talent continues to unfold within the lineup with performances from the deep-end of dubstep such as Chee, Khiva, Kursa, and Angelic Root as well as sets from Esseks, Toadface, TVBOO, VCTRE, a Spicy Bois Takeover with MeSo, Space Wizard, and mlotik, and a double helping of beardthug to finish off the weekend.
