1991 Turns Up The Energy With His D&B VIP Of ‘The People’

by Victor Lovo

RL Grime and the folks from Sable Valley recently did us a favor and introduced us trap heads to one of the biggest up and comers in the DnB arena. 1991 has been setting the UK dance world on fire these past years with innovative drum and bass records that constantly push the envelope of bass music. With support from artists like Skrillex, RL Grime, Chris Lake, and Andy C there seems to be no stopping the young London producer. Back in 2018, we were blown away by RL Grime’s edit of his track ‘VHS’ with Drake’s ‘Look Alive’, featured in Halloween 7. More recently, to bring DnB to the forefront of bass music in North America 1991 one teamed up with fellow DnB legends Sub Focus, Dimension, and Culture Shock to form “WORSHIP,” which has just completed their seven-show run. In addition to finally getting ‘The People’ last week, we’re now blessed with the fresh DnB mix of this monster of a track.

The energy is immediately felt out of the gate, as the intro is slightly sped up injecting new life into this record. The orchestral one hits in the build-ups make up a  mouth-watering suspense-filled section which perfectly paves the way for the rhythmic drum patterns that follow. In addition to the majestic horns in the drop of the original mix, added drum patterns and layered synths are the driving force in this lively remake of this instant classic. Make sure to check out both mixes down below!
