European duo Evilnoiz are no strangers to handcrafting maniacal beats for the pleasure of thousands of ears. With multiple releases on Buygore, and a steadily growing international following in the seedy underbelly of SoundCloud, they aim to take 2020 totally by storm. Their first bullet in the chamber for this year’s campaign of sonic warfare is ‘Mutagen,’ a lethal audio tool that aims to take out all that dare come into its immense path of totality.
From the opening notes, a mysterious, cheekily aggressive air is readily apparent, conjuring goosebumps to rise from your skin like some sort of new human-crafted designer disease. With a melody that sounds straight out of the intro to a horror movie, featuring delightful strings, thunderous drums, and distant bells, you’ll be immediately sucked into the daunting ambiance. The first drop unveils it’s sheer brutality, with tight production and a punishing, chaotic energy. Saucy vocal samples are sprinkled in to perfection, issuing a warning that your ears are about to receive another round of uppercuts straight to the dome. With the overall quality of this piece being superb, and its stylistic elements making it firmly distinct, this group will assuredly be one to keep on your radar for some time to come.
