South Carolina’s Kevin McVicker is certainly more than just an OK dude, blessing the airwaves with his own brand of sound in the form of his OK. Kevin alias. Infusing a dancey audio concoction of deep, defiant wubs that aim to firmly break the norm, he’s set out on a path to internationally cast his creations to the ears of all who will listen. Now, he’s come correct once more, this time in the form of ‘Straight Facts’, a hard-hitting creation that delicately blurs the line between experimental trap and bass music.
‘Straight Facts’ gets straight to the point, creating a thought-provoking air from the initial notes of the track, keeping the listener in a relaxed state that will quickly turn up the heat. The layering in the first drop is a delight, surely creating a fantastic massage on the ear canals. The latter drop can be best described as “gross” taking the best elements of the first, and adding thicker, more drawn-out bass lines. This is all coupled with much punchier low-end, sure to illicit grimy, “ewww” faces from the fans of dirty frequency manipulations. Don’t be surprised if you hear this piece rinsed on many festival stages throughout the summer, as it absolutely slams oh so nicely. The ‘Straight Facts’ are that OK.
