PREMIERE: Get A Glimpse Into Hyume’s Mind Through His ‘Disturbances I’ EP

by Steph Contant

Proving to be an up-and-coming force to be reckoned with in the underground scene, Hyume has recently impressed with his unique touch on future bass that exudes chaos in a controlled and beautiful manner. His recent single titled ‘Upheaval‘ is a perfect example of this raw talent and the French producer looks to continue to carve his own path with the release of his Disturbances I EP that we are ecstatic to premiere today.

A project that has been in the works for about a year, Disturbances I is Hyume leaving behind his old self and growing into a newfound artistic expression. “The frustration felt because of my last EP gave birth to the Disturbances I EP. For the first 2 months, I wasn’t really composing, I was rather looking for a sound and colour that corresponded to me. Once I really started to understand who I was through my experimentation, I started to really work on the first part of the Disturbances EP. There were a lot of phases of doubt because I really wanted it to be a definitive new beginning,” Hyume states about the indecision surrounding his art.

The entirety of the project tells this story in a complex narrative highlighted by vibrant melodies, sombre undertones, frantic ups and soothing downs. From start to finish, Hyume keeps you hooked with a sound that is consistent throughout yet never grows old. The name of the body of work stems from “a disruption of what I thought was my reality, so I decided to narrate this change through this EP,” the talented producer adds. From failure and defeat, to confusion and doubt, to acceptance, Hyume shares his emotions chronologically in Disturbances I. ‘Sorry’ with Hana Bens is the only vocal-driven track, and represents the artist definitively rejecting his old self and beginning the acceptance process.

An epic story told through six mesmerizing tracks, Disturbances I marks a new chapter for Hyume. Don’t miss it below.
