Reaper & AWOLTALK Combine Talents On Their Massive Single ‘Hysteria’

by Victor Lovo

Here at FUXWITHIT, we’re huge supporters of the D&B 2020 movement, so it’s only right we give the stage to two of the biggest trailblazers in the American Drum and Bass scene. REAPER is coming off a massive 2019, starting with his debut remix of Bassnectar’s ‘Speakerbox,’ which amassed over 100k plays on SoundCloud, and finishing off with his debut EP Rapture on Monstercat. Combing elements of American bass music with the organic sounds of European D&B is the bread and butter of the REAPER project, and when merged with the punk and industrial influences of veteran American D&B innovator AWOLTALK, we get the festival-ready single, ‘Hysteria.’

Immediately out of the gate, the energy and tone of the track is set by a combination of a running hi-hat pattern and menacing sirens. Following this, the main melody is played by an almost acid-like synth which is introduced at a low pitch while slowing being risen over the next few bars. In addition to the melody, we’re introduced to the pounding percussion that carries the rest of the track. A few seconds into the first drop, and you’ll realize these two aren’t playing around. Between the heavily distorted synths and drum patterns that seem to never stay still, this one is sure to get you moving. Make sure to check it out down below!
