msft. Debuts On Jadu Dala With ‘Backup’

by Alessio Anesi

A couple of weeks ago me, msft., Voliik, Patrick from Kumo, Gentis, and Drvmmer were all packed on a couple of sofas inside a small backstage at an Electric Wave night, smoking, drinking and chatting about all things music. Try to image: it’s 2 am, cigarette smoke fills the whole room, the air stinks of Jägermeister and Redbull while dubstep and drum&bass loudly penetrate from a semi opened door.

Can you see this tableau? Can you feel it in your lungs, on your toungue, in your ears?

Good. Because if I hadn’t been there, I’d have thought this new msft. track had been produced during a session in this precise moment. ‘Backup’ (that you may have heard somewhere else before) is indeed a bloody, brooding, badass, filthy tune that slaps your brain like a Jägerbomb. msft. goes back to the very essence of his thoroughbred style that we started to love years ago with ‘take one‘. It’s mental, but not aggressive, it’s complex, but not complicated. I won’t spend too many words saying how tasty the sound design is, or how much the overall feeling reminds me of Josh Pan and X&G, but instead I’d like to draw your attention to the amount of swag msft. manage to express with every release. Am I right?
