PREMIERE: Leotrix Flexes Heavy Bass Bounce In ‘Neo Gangsta’

by Steph Contant

Sydney-based Leotrix exploded onto the heavy bass scene with the release of his Hive EP and more specifically with the infectious monster that is ‘Hive Bounce‘ in September of last year. A subsequent collaboration with the legendary Moody Good and the more recent ‘Bahebe‘ alongside Dirty Audio have since solidified Leotrix as one of the most promising up-and-comers in the realm of bass music, as his unique approach to productions is a welcome breath of freshness.

Looking to continue to carve his own path, Leotrix returns to Never Say Die: Black Label this week with the release of his Gremlin EP, a project sharing the same name as his current tour throughout Australia and New Zealand. Ahead of Gremlin‘s full release, we are ecstatic to premiere ‘Neo Gangsta’ today, a track that echoes Leotrix’s signature style without escaping the inventive nature of his productions. The introduction is alluring and intriguing as chopped vocal samples and a section with breakbeat-inspired percussion take centre stage. A gradual build flows seamlessly into a menacing bass drop highlighted by guttural synths that have an oddly natural bounce to them. As the track progresses, core-shattering frequencies continue to pummel listeners, but Leotrix balances these with a light-heart bridge and conclusion to keep you hooked until the very end.

‘Neo Gangsta’ is but one of the six gems from Leotrix’s upcoming Gremlin EP. Don’t miss it below.
