Ekcle’s ‘Pearl Jigsaw’ Gets Three Distinct Yet Equally Impressive Remixes

by Steph Contant

A track that has been on repeat since its release, ‘Pearl Jigsaw‘ has undeniably solidified Ekcle‘s status among the greatest innovators in the scene. Its forward-thinking approach combining the beauty of natural sounds with core-shattering bass is infectious, almost addicting, and never grows old as listeners are pummelled with an onslaught of complexity that leaves one more curious after each listen. Now, the British duo have enlisted three rising stars to remix the modern classic, tapping into the skills of RefraQ, Little Snake and Azaleh to deliver diverse takes on the original.

RefraQ’s take on ‘Pearl Jigsaw’ plays on the name of the track, taking distinct pieces from the original puzzle but arranging them in a new, refreshing way while also adding his own touch of stuttering frequencies. Little Snake offers a no holds barred approach, as contortion and distortion are the main themes in the shortest remix of the bunch. The Calgarian’s mind-warping remix is devilish and aggressive yet flow seamlessly from start to finish, a testament to his true artistic abilities. Finally, German producer Azaleh caps off the trio of remixes with a cinematic, orchestral take on ‘Pearl Jigsaw’ that is a welcome change of pace.
