It goes without saying that Akeos has had an unparalleled month of April and even last twelve months. Since their introduction to Never Say Die: Black Label last June with the formidable Labyrinth EP, the Pennsylvania-based artist has proven time and time again that they can compete with the elite players in the bass realm. In the month of April alone, the skilled producer has unleashed the eclectic Serial Live EP, a collaboration with Subtronics, and remixes of ‘Insanity‘ and ‘Jagerwomb.’
If that isn’t enough (although you’d be crazy to think so), Akeos returns to Black Label this week with the four-track Insomnia EP to further their unprecedented rise among the ranks. Ahead of its full release, we’re ecstatic to premiere ‘Crescent Moon’ today for all who have been itching for this wicked tune.
‘Crescent Moon’ embodies the essence of the sound that Akeos has masterfully showcased over the course of their brief yet impressive career, while also demonstrating their ability to innovate with this sound. The introduction is seamlessly put together, gradually creating a sense of urgency in listeners and leaving them on the edge of their seats. As a vocal sample repeating the track’s title hits, the dubstep insanity that Akeos has perfected comes to light, once again flexing a combination of nefarious flow, crisp sound design and a meticulous attention to detail. An odd yet welcome psytrance bridge adds to the dynamism of ‘Crescent Moon’ before Akeos drives it home with true madness in the last minute.
Don’t miss ‘Crescent Moon’ below and keep your eyes peeled for more from Akeos this week.
