The #MeToo movement has been spreading like wildfire in the dance music community, and honestly, it was about time. Artists are being finally being held accountable left and right. And while it’s amazing that together, we’re creating a safer scene, I think the ladies of EDM need a breather. Thankfully, Jeanie and her GRL GANG are throwing a 2-day virtual event on July 18 & 19 called GRL FEST.
Jeanie says, “In light of the negative events that have been happening in the dance music industry–and the world–as of late, I wanted to do something positive that directly benefits victims of sexual violence. I handpicked all of the artists that will be performing alongside myself and I couldn’t be more proud or excited to share these performances.”
How does GRLFEST benefit survivors? 100% of the proceeds of the live stream will go to RAINN, which stands for Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network. The organization created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline and also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and bring justice.
So not only does this event go to a good cause, but it also boasts a dope lineup. You can check it out below:
With names like these playing, you can bet we’ll be showing up at GRLFEST. You can RSVP to the event here so you don’t forget.
And if you or someone you know is a survivor of sexual assault and would like to contact the National Sexual Assault Hotline, you can find the information below:
