Saint Punk Continues To Impress With ‘Empty Bed’

by Victor Lovo

Here at FUX, one of our favorite happenings within electronic music is the constant blending of genres. Electronic music has always inherently been self-generating, always pulling influences from across the entire musical landscape. One artist that encapsulates this characteristic of electronic music perfectly, is Saint Punk. Truly a genre-defier, Saint Punk has developed his own unique sound over the past few years by throwing together a creative blend of grunge, house, and even hip-hop into a chaotic four-on-the-floor madhouse that every record has become. Beginning with his self-titled debut EP released on Confession, the young innovator has been on an absolute tear since then. Saint Punk joined the Monstercat family last year after remixing Tokyo Machine’s ‘Play,’ and now he makes his solo debut on the label with the eccentric house banger ‘Empty Bed’.

We start off by being introduced to these murky kicks and melodies layered with the introduction of the hypnotic vocals of the record. Various elements are periodically through this first section, including this insane sweeping sub-layer that gives this track its glitchy feel. Soon after, we’re thrown into a bass-heavy drop section filled with expert four-on-the-floor drum work. The ambient sounds and constant growling of the basses in the breakdowns perfectly give the space for the vocals to really shine through. We can’t wait to hear this one hit the dance floor when shows and festivals return, check it out below until then!
