HUCCI Reclaims The Trap Throne With ‘Jericho’

by Arielle Lana LeJarde

It was only a few days ago that I was reflecting on the 30 producers who were influential in defining the golden era of trap. Coincidentally, around the same time, I got news that #8 on that list: HUCCI would be releasing ‘Jericho’ soon. And it would be a song that I knew every long-time electronic trap fan would love.

The track is reminiscent of those that catapulted his career in the early 2010s. And any trap historian will feel the ultimate nostalgia listening to it. It has all the makings of a classic trap banger. A mix of high-pitched and deep menacing vocals that repeat the song’s title throughout the track. The prolific Lex Lugar’s drum kit ‘woof’. It even boasts the legendary ‘HUCCI’ sample… need I say more?

While HUCCI will sometimes give us a treat with tracks like ‘Jericho’ and ‘EVO777’, his production discography over the last few years has been a lot softer and dreamier. We’re sure between this and his recent vocal project, Truvian Grey, HUCCI must be mad busy. So we’re super grateful that he hasn’t totally moved on from blessing the OG fans with some love.

There’s only one thing left to do. Listen to HUCCI’s ‘Jericho’ right now. Fuck New Music Friday—this will be on repeat for the rest of the day and I have no regrets.
