The love that trap has been getting recently makes my heart full. Not only have we’ve seen legends like TNGHT return to greatness in recent years, but we’ve also been witness to a new wave of exceptional talent within the genre that has seemingly pushed trap music into uncharted territory. So many names in this new generation of talent have caught our eyes throughout the years, but one always sticks out to me. The man in question of course is So-cal-based trap wizard anti. Ever since we had the honor to premiere anti.’s Throwdown EP back in 2019 we knew he was a force to be reckoned with. We’ve come to love anti’s unique style, which places a heavy emphasis on the impact of percussion while also not shying away from some heavy experimental sounds. This time the young legend returns with yet another trap banger titled ‘Breaker.’
In true anti. fashion, we begin with a hard-hitting percussion loop that serves as the backbone to the record. Throughout this intro, we are repeatedly teased with different elements like the lead vocal and 808s that make a full reveal later down the road. After a quick build, we’re hit with a barrage of distorted leads that perfectly sit on top of the booming percussion throughout this drop section. Of course, this isn’t an anti. record without its fair share of creative sample selections and one-shots to fill the space between breaks.
