Slang Dogs Make A Statement With Their Recent Single ‘Epiphany’

by Victor Lovo

Over the past two years, one of our favorite trends in dance music is the reemergence of Drum & Bass in North America. Although if you’ve been paying attention, you definitely already know we’re massive DnB fans. One of our favorite artists we’ve supported throughout this time is the bay-are duo Slang Dogs. With a truly unique sound that perfectly walks the line between left-field bass music and Drum & Bass, with each release tending to lean one way or the other. Since the duo’s inception, they’ve released one of the biggest labels in bass music, Bassrush. If Slang Dogs’ recent release ‘Ephinany’ is any foreshadowing, you better get familiar with the name, cause they’re here to stay.

As with any Slang Dogs masterpiece, the atmosphere and tone are set right out of the gate with these eerie ambient synths joined by the calls of what sounds like distant animals. Soon after the lead is teased right before being throw into a quick build. Immediately following this we’re thrown into the beautiful chaos of the drop section, spearheaded by a lead that can truly only be described as an alien growl. The percussion elements through the record are perfectly varied, while also being accompanied by some interesting sounds that’ll pierce your ears in the breaks. Do yourself a favor, and listen to the whole thing down below.
