MUST DIE!‘s CRISIS VISION LP is undoubtedly a contender for bass album of the year due to its sheer diversity and to the elite-level execution of each different style. From individual works to unlikely collaborations, the fourteen-track journey explores just about every realm of bass music, and only further attests to the legendary status that MUST DIE! has earned over his lengthy career in the production game.
Looking to keep the momentum from the project alive, MUST DIE! and Never Say Die are now treating fans to yet another fourteen-track collection titled CRISIS VISION: REDUX. With a new, equally gut-wrenching take on ‘NIHILISM BEGINS AT HOME’ from the Seattle-based veteran as well as thirteen more enthralling remixes, this new ensemble sees familiar and fresh faces take on various tracks from CRISIS VISION, with each providing an interesting touch to the masterfully crafted originals.
When the first remix from CRISIS VISION: REDUX, namely Good Times Ahead’s take on ‘SORROW TECH,’ dropped in early July, the Jersey-club-turned-dubstep remix set the stage for all to expect the unexpected. Habstrakt followed up with a quintessential bass house rendition of ‘LOL OK,’ before more remixes slowly started appearing throughout the week leading up to today. From Never Say Die favourites such as Kompany, BadKlaat, and Trampa delivering a heavy dose of brutal bass, to newcomers such as Frantik (who actually won the ‘CHAOS‘ remix contest) and Slippy making their debut on the label, the album features a wide array of talent from across the bass scene. Additional heavy-hitters such as TYNAN, Nitepunk, Tisoki and Jiqui also contribute with incredible remixes of the originals. While it’s is difficult to pick a favourite from such a stacked list of names, personal favourites include Syzy’s chaotic, crunchy and metallic flip of ‘FUCK UR STYLE’ and Aweminus and Oolacile’s unexpected rock-dubstep hybrid take on ‘DELETE IT ALL.’ Unexpected, right?
