PEEKABOO Meshes Dubstep & Hip Hop In ‘Bumpy Road’

by Steph Contant

As long-time supporters of PEEKABOO, it has been a pleasure watching him carve his own unique sound in an industry that (usually) rewards innovation. Having grown into an artist that now competes with the best, PEEKABOO continues to showcase how his distinct style works across all walks of bass music, recently adding his touch to NGHTMRE’s infamous ‘Street‘ and collaborating with Ganja White Night on ‘Mitosis.’

Today, the artist shares his first solo original of the year in a track titled ‘Bumpy Road’ released via NIGHTMODE. Staying true to the aforementioned statement, PEEKABOO elevates his sound further with his latest release, concocting a 140 BPM dubstep bop that’s unusually laidback but in all the right ways. Boasting no shortage of his signature style yet borrowing influence from deeper dubstep and hip hop all at once, ‘Bumpy Road’ is not a festival-ready banger, but a track meant for late nights in a dark, overcrowded club. The hip hop influence almost makes it a tune that you could hear Terror Reid spit some bars overtop, whereas the added grunginess in the second half gives the track its bass appeal.

We’ll be listening to ‘Bumpy Road’ on repeat for a while. Don’t miss it below.
