msft. Brings Us To The Rave With Last Single Of The Year ‘alley’

msft. signs off the year with one more breakbeat cut

by Alessio Anesi

When msft. announced the start of his breakbeat season, he wasn’t joking. With his last single of the year, titled ‘alley’, the north-Italian producer doubles down on this commitment, carrying on the path inaugurated by the two heavy hitters ‘the only‘ and ‘Crash Test’, and his surprising remix of Daniel Allan’s ‘Glass House.’ “I’m very satisfied with this latest streak of releases but the best part is that it looks like more and more people are on board with this sound,” Msft. tells us. “As I’ve mentioned before, I’m feeling there’s a breakbeat renaissance on the rise and it’s exciting to see it’s quickly catching on with my US fans as well.” Delving into ‘alley’, he mentioned, “[Alley] is meant to be an ominous breakbeat tune. I imagined myself going to an underground rave in an obscure and undefined place, hearing music from outside without figuring out where the exact location was.

This “cliffhanger vibe” is strong in ‘alley,’ especially when compared to the aforementioned releases. With its minimalism, ‘alley’ isn’t a peak-time weapon. It’s a slow burner. A track that unleashes its terrific potential when used to set the mood. To lead the listener within the musical journey that can be a dj set or a mix. This clearly won’t be a favorite of those who are fully into the drop-only culture, but it will not go unnoticed by the ears of those who seek storytelling applied to the art of DJing. Fun fact, ever since I first heard it, I could not help but notice a parallelism between ‘alley’ and Rohaan’s ‘Darlin‘.

You can stream ‘alley’ below or on your favorite platform here. Be sure to keep an eye out for more msft. announcements because his annual FUCK 2022 mix is coming “sooner than you expect.”
