Ankou and Vellum are two artists that we have been following for quite some time who have individually carved unique lanes within the bass music scene. With the former making his name in the halftime world and the latter making an early name for himself in bass house, their new collaboration titled ‘Sleepwalker’ certainly came as a bit of a surprise. However, both artists’ versatility within their craft and ability to explore a variety of genres incited curiosity on our end. To nobody’s surprise, Ankou and Vellum delivered something special.
The name of the track offers insight into the sinister aura that it carries, with the artwork further complementing that tone. ‘Sleepwalker’ creates vivid imagery of the sleep paralysis monsters we often hear about, but it’s carved into a bass-heavy brute that is primed for powerful sound systems. Following a looming introduction, Ankou and Vellum jump straight into sound design madness, flexing mind-melting bass riffs layered above a swagger-filled flow. Relentless with its bass-in-your-face approach, ‘Sleepwalker’ showcases the production prowess of both artists, and hopefully gives us a taste of what’s to come in 2023. Don’t miss it below.
