Just A Gent Weaves Through Genres In ‘http://EP’

by Steph Contant

A few weeks back, we had the pleasure of connecting with Just A Gent to discuss his http://EP project, among other things. Released on November 2nd, the Newcastle-based producer states “the new EP is more or less an evolution of the Just A Gent sound“. With tracks such as the euphoric ‘Hold’ featuring Thief and the gritty ‘404‘ included in the work, it is evident that http://EP is the culmination of months of hard work. This effort is personified in the form of six versatile tracks that further showcase Just A Gent’s artistry.

In addition to the two aforementioned tracks and the previously-released ‘Space Odyssey’ and ‘VIBE’, http://EP contains two more forward-thinking heaters. The first is a collaboration with fellow Aussie Yvng Jalapeño titled ‘Drowning’. A cohesive combination of styles, ‘Drowning’ takes anonymous female vocals and accentuates them with a bouncy yet metallic take on future bass and trap. The project is capped off with ‘Injustice’, where Just A Gent continues to display his ability to heighten vocals with pristine production. Flawlessly weaving his way between hip-hop, future bass and trap, ‘Injustice’ is the perfect conclusion to a powerful EP.
