The temperatures are dropping, but the heat keeps coming. Focus Five Vol. 93 highlights a Canadian-based bass wizard, an Italian-born, London-based producer who is taking over, a DJ, producer, and “cultural entrepreneur,” an extremely impressive producer with under 100 followers, and an artist who is making dubstep that is deep, dark, murky, and worldly. What more could you ask for? Get familiar with all five below.
Detoor
Recently, I’ve been in a mood where I’ve been exploring older music. Everything from 90s hip-hop to 2000s dubstep has been in my rotation as of late, and that has also led me to discovering newer artists that boast this nostalgic sound. Sherbrooke-based Detoor is a great example of such an artist. When I first heard ‘Retrocausality,’ I was hypnotized by the minimal yet rhythmic tones of the introduction, bringing me back to the older styles of dubstep, all while carrying a modern flair. As the drop hit, I was immediately sold on Detoor, and knew I had to explore more of his discography. With releases on labels such as Prime Audio and Drama Club Recordings, Detoor’s sound dives further into that deep, dark dubstep that is so reminiscent of the early days of the sound, and I simply can’t get enough of it. ‘Time Dilation’ with Vince Grave is another track that really stood out to me, largely because it’s simple in its ideas but executed so well. A track doesn’t need endless layers of complexity to be catchy, and ‘Time Dilation’ is a perfect example of that. With less than 1k followers on SoundCloud at the time of writing, it’s silly how underrated Detoor is.

Saint Ludo
Emerging onto the scene with style, Saint Ludo came out of the stalls charging. Blending bass-heavy rhythms with UK wonkiness, there’s something uniquely hyper about each track she drops. Her third single ever released, back in October of 2025, has been ringing around clubs in the UK ever since. ‘Subliminals’ combines Scouse rapper Kaast8’s harsh, raw vocals with a 140bpm bass-face melting beat that makes you want to play it back to back… and back again. The first verse screws your face up & then the second brings in extra wonky synths that wobble through your skull. It really is a proper banger.
An Italian-born, high-energy producer, hailing from London and regularly doing intimate club sets that cover all tempos and genres – what’s not to like? If the more 4/4 style electronic music is for you, listen to ‘Drive’ and get your rave on. If you’re more Junglist than House head, prepare to get your groove on with ‘Southpaw’. Saint Ludo brings it all; within such a short space of launching her career, we’re witnessing the rise of a future headliner.

Shfoosja
Starting out as a visual artist, like many of us, Shfoosja couldn’t resist the call of the low end and ended up devoting herself entirely to the realm of heavy-bass rhythms: first as a DJ, and now also as a producer and “cultural entrepreneur,” as I like to describe it. Shfoosja is everything a fan of electronic music and culture could wish for today. A diligent seeker of new and fresh approaches both in her tracks (she describes her style with the charming phrase “raw, emotional, and a little celestial”) and in her DJ sets, she’s an advocate for the (nowadays inflated) art of b2b through her Bedroom Session mix series and a true champion of the underground with her collective Drusbä. With her ever-growing presence on the Paris scene and beyond, Shfoosja is carving out a space for herself while driving an entire scene.

Skaar
Eclectic sound design, colorful atmospheres, and more, Skaar is a name you’ll want to remember. This artist’s pure integrity through his productions is just another reason why this style is remarkable. His works will weave their way into your hearts with every second. Making a powerful path for himself and his designs. These pieces hold many characteristics that’ll make listeners want more and more. From a powerful combination of sound with Arms, to his most recent tune, ‘Time,’ the possibilities are endless. Even the drums cut through every speaker, hypnotizing the audience and creating a dream you don’t want to wake up from. Harnessing energy from different spectrums and blending them in a gorgeous fashion. We’re truly stoked to hear more from him!

willyb
Deep, dark, murky, worldly. These are a few words that come to mind when pressing play on willyb’s music. The Nashville-based bass producer has been making major waves online with his engrossing signature blend of deep dubstep. His breakout single ‘Egyptus’ is the perfect introduction to the artist, pairing room-shaking low end with crisp percussion, stirring strings, foreign samples, immersive atmospheres, and an ever-evolving arrangement. This masterful work has amassed over a million streams across platforms and has become a viral sensation on social media. The success is no fluke, since the release, willyb has been locked in crafting heater after heater, with tracks like ‘Tunisia’ and ‘GHOST’ further proving his ability to conjure sonic worlds. He’s hot off playing the iconic Infrasound festival, and his career is only going up. Look out for willyb taking over for the rest of the year and into 2027.
