Jon Casey joins forces with Chicago’s very own Blake Skowron to knock our heads back with this heavy new trap remix of Ray Volpe’s ‘Wet Napkin.’ Hailing from South Africa, Jon Casey has been charging the bass scene with his electrifying sense of rhythm and production skills for a while now. From UZ’s Quality Goods Records to RL Grimes elite label Sable Valley, to a huge new sample pack available on Splice, Jon Casey’s tracks are finally gaining the recognition they deserve. Holding it down in the Windy City, Blake Skowron plays no games when it comes to making high quality music. Earning himself appearances on bitbird radio, two Splice sample packs, and interview spots on NestHQ, Blake is headed for the top, where he belongs.

Grabbing us by the balls right off the bat, a super catchy synth riff followed by a huge crunchy bass patch, Casey & Skowron reset the tone for this track in a spicy new way, letting us know that our necks are about to hurt in roughly 3 minutes. Drum and Bass drum breaks build us up into a massive drop section of impressively intricate sound design and drum work. Insanely chunky 808’s and fluttering hi hats flow throughout the track until the breakdown makes its entrance. Leading us into the spicy second drop, these two trap heavy weights crack down on the sound spectrum for the second half of the second drop with minimalistic poppy synths and crunchy reese riffs. The track inevitably winds down by blending the drop leads and the intro synths together before jogging to a stop. You definitely will not want to miss this track, as its more than likely to furl your eyebrows and bring your bass face into full force.

sober rob in recent years has dazzled fans with his otherworldly sound design and delectable beats. Setting up shop usually in the realms of future bass. Now we’ve been lucky enough to be blessed with a glimpse at his alter ego drunk Rob, who seems like he’d be a blast at parties. Making a hard 180 from the typical vibe of his songs, drunk rob is much more about thunderous kicks and an almost primal party persona. Boasting two distinct yet unquestionably relatable pieces of hi-fi ear candy in ‘OOOFFFF’ and ‘Pow,’ this EP is small but very, very mighty.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/671338268″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Leading this 2 track EP, sober rob blasts through the gates throwing punches and swingin’ elbows with this spacey banger. Hypnotic drum work layered with huge sub basses and rob’s elegant sound design brew the perfect concoction for this song. Leaving no room for sonic silence, this song is minimal yet so full of life, bringing a special kind of magic to our minds, and a familiar stank face and head nod to our bodies.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/671336795″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Rob teams up with Portugal-based Holly for this mortar cannon of a song, featuring kicks that aptly fit the title. Each note has a pleasing thickness to it, with little drags placed between bumps to give the movement this almost monkey bar effect, each note swinging perfectly to the next. This song becomes an absolute earth-shaker at loud volumes, bringing the filth to full frontal levels. With ‘Pow’ being the first ever collaboration between these two artists, I can only imagine what other audible intoxicants these guys can brew up.

Breathing new life into his project with this new alter ego drunk rob, sober rob reminds us of his versatility and his impressive amount of talent and skill. Leaving us wanting more, we hope to hear more big bangers out of rob, and I’m sure you do too. Don’t miss this heater of an EP, you will be sorry.

Words by Alex & Eli.

Curating label support from Deadbeats to Monstercat, Holly plays no games when it comes to making heads nod.

Opening the gates into a dystopian atmosphere, Holly paints a picture with his textures and soundscapes on ‘Through Me.’ We’re brought up into the drop with intricately aggressive drum work. Huge animated basses fluctuate between our ears for the first half of the drop before ramping up the vibe of the track with a heavy-hitting new bass line. Guiding us down from the drop, Holly reintroduces the original theme before bringing us back to the final climax point of the song. Big ol’ distorted bass smacks our eardrums atop the huge drum pattern Holly lays down. Be sure to give this track a listen or two, you’ll be doing yourself a favor.

California’s very own Vinny Pisciotta, known professionally as Rome In Silver, has been making huge waves in the dance music scene for quite sometime, scoring releases with major labels such as San Holo’s esteemed bitbird, UZ’s illustrious Quality Goods Records, Mat Zo’s brainchild MADZOO, and many more.

Using samples from Blur’s hit song from the late 90’s, ‘Song 2,’ we’re introduced to ‘Not my Problem’ with a catchy bass riff followed by a medley of drums, pitched vocals, and that bass line. Around the 40 second mark, we meet the bass that’s prominent throughout the rest of the track, infecting us with an incurable disease of smiling and head bobbing. Rome In Silver drops us into a world of grandiose grins with impressive drum work layered with an unbelievably intoxicating trumpet line that eventually meets its electric guitar counterpart. Letting us cool down, we’re reminded of the beauty of the intro before being brought back into the hypnosis of this homage to one of the late 90’s biggest hits. Definitely be sure to check this one out if you want to brighten up your day.

Twinkling bells and chimes filter us into a state of bliss surrounded by one of the biggest bass lines you’ve ever heard, accompanied by intricate drum work and those bone chilling bells and chimes. 55 seconds into this masterpiece, intoxicating vocals greet us warmly and slowly introduces us to the melody of the lead that hits us shortly after. That huge bass makes a triumphant return to our ears, this time accompanied by a gorgeous melody. Chilling out a bit, we’re escorted to the end of the song by the mellow vibe of the intro.

Australian dance duo Knife Party have always been known for doing things a little differently, all while still keeping their music far above the status quo. They have quite the track record, gaining over a million streams on nearly every track off of every album they’ve released, landing huge collaborations with high-tier bass acts such as Pegboard Nerds, and having heavyweight artists such as JAUZ remix their tunes. After only a small handful of releases in 2018 (aside from their podcast titled Knifecast) Pendulum’s Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen return to the bass music scene as Knife Party once again with their brilliant escapade of head banging entitled Lost Souls.

Starting off the project with a tune called ‘No Saint,’ Knife Party makes it crystal clear that this EP is the farthest thing from a joke. Simplistic yet intricate drum patterns and unique sound design intertwine for this huge house tune, before leading us into the Dubstep utopia of the EP’s title track, ‘Lost Souls.’ Staying true to their sound as well as their aesthetic and F-You attitude, ‘Lost Souls’ opens with huge cinematic drums and vengeful brass hits, leading into to some rather peculiar vocal samples before tossing us into one of the heaviest songs on the EP. Lightening the mood, Swire & McGrillen bring us feel-good house tune ‘Death & Desire.’ Recruiting Harrison’s immense talent on vocals, this tune is the perfect medley of melodic, heavy, and uplifting. Concluding this 4-track monster of an EP, Knife Party draws their curtains with the sinister track ‘Ghost Train.’ This track uses many railroad related samples as they build us up and drop us into bliss with this huge house tune. Lost Souls is most definitely not a project you want to miss, so do yourself a favor and sit back, listen, and enjoy.

Dropping into a classic trap styled drop, these guys aren’t holding back. After a melodic tropical breakdown, we build back up into a moombahton oasis that quickly turns back into a trap influenced section of this second drop, making it obvious that these guys had a blast tossing this track back and forth until it reached perfection. Leaving us feeling good, ‘Drip’ takes a future bass turn for the finale of this monster of a track. Be sure to check it out, as it’s definitely something you wont want to miss.
