During my indefinite work from home situation, I find myself looking for new music to bump while I work through emails, spreadsheets and in between conference calls. 

Today, I landed on Marlon Craft. 

I’ll save you the bio and breakdown – everyone knows how to use Google. 

Here is what you need to know.

Marlon Craft is a skilled wordsmith with an undeniable flow. Clearly influenced by the Mecca (NYC), Craft has an incredible ear for beats and knows how to find space pockets to fill with in-between-bar words that are reminiscent of Jay-Z. 

The 27 year old has been active for some time, his skill is a clear reflection of the years of practice but, most notably he emerged onto the scene back in 2015. Since then, Craft has been jackin’ beats (‘Shook Ones’) and dropping mixtapes through streaming platforms and even dropped a debut studio album back in the summer of 2019.

Colin and I joked about starting a blog and well, we got a little carried away – ha! Shortly after in December of 2013, I hit up Colin about the Toronto stop on Kanye’s ‘YEEZUS’ Tour. We were both headed with different groups of friends. At the time, I didn’t really like the latest album from Kanye but I still loved all his other music. So I went. My crew sat in the 300’s but enjoyed that shit like we were front and center. The production of the whole show made me fall in love with YEEZUS the album. And it was that night, December 23rd 2013 that I shot Colin a text that read, “I’ve got the name – FUXWITHIT”. On Christmas Day, and much to Colin’s surprise, I bought the domain – it was ours, FUXWITHIT.com. We started moving quick but really had no idea what the fuck we were doing. Colin and I met up at his place in the city to talk about how we wanted to set up the site, what kind of music we wanted to cover, what we wanted to avoid and ultimately how we were going to make sure we always made sure our passion for great music was at the forefront.

We officially launched the site on January 28th, 2014.

Since then, FUXWITHIT.com has accomplished so much. We’ve done so much as a blog, crew, and partners that it would take me forever to put on paper or into a post. So now, you’re reading this and thinking “well what the hell is the title about, dude”? Here goes…

Life is funny. You have ups, big ups, very high ups – followed by lows, low-lows (not to be confused with a candy paint 6-4 sitting on 100 spokes), and deep lows. Life can be a roller-coaster, I know, “how original, Kash”. But for real, shit has been crazy for me. I say that to say this – I’m leaving FUXWITHIT.com because it’s what’s best for me, in my life, at this time and for the foreseeable future.

Now before I bounce I’ve got something to say. First, let me say, Colin – thank you. Your passion has kept this dream alive. To everyone that we have collaborated with or that I have had the pleasure of sharing a moment with as a result of this brand, thank you. To my family and friends, thank you for your support over the years, thanks for showing up to our parties and thanks for sharing our words. To our readers and fans alike – we are here to serve you and bring you the best music out there. Without you, our FUX Family, we would be nowhere. Thank you and Goodbye.

Method Man has always been one of my personal favourites. Aside from his days with Wu-Tang, Meth has maintained lyrical prowess and a dope ass flow. ‘Even If’ was a track that a lot of folks and fans probably missed. This track was on the Nutty Professor II soundtrack but never really blossomed into the fantastic single that it could have been (the soundtrack went platinum). Though the track seems short, it’s a fun and upbeat track that gives Meth the room to show off his bars and flow. Check out the track above and show love. Tical!

Four years ago TDE’s Jay Rock dropped ‘Parental Advisory’ – a track so west coast it made you feel like you were in a 6-4, drinking OE, reppin’ a set. Produced by SmokeyGotBeatz, ‘Parental Advisory’ featured 3 ruthless verses from the Watts native. This was right around the time Jay Rock was coming off a fantastic showing on Kendrick’s good kid, m.A.A.d city album.
