Coming at us live as can be from the Island of Maui, hip hop vocalist Nurries has just dropped a fiery, soulful, bass fueled hip hop record on Shadowtrix Music to cap off 2019 with a marvelous hybrid of killer sounds. The ‘Speck’ EP takes us everywhere from introspective, hazy room head-nodding, into full on hanging out of the coupe on a Saturday night with the gang in a seamlessly progressive three track selection that blends top notch hip hop lyricism with outstanding sound design in a rare and inspiring format that urges listeners to expand and explore their ever so distant music horizons.

The unreal production work done by West coast bass wizards Trobjorn & Subduktion, pairs so well with Nurries’ diverse, thoughtful, and at times reckless abandon for the English languagem it makes one wonder why this type of music hasn’t a genre unto itself for years now. All we can hope for is to see much, much more of it.
Grab this record below and gives the boys a follow while you’re at it!

Setting the stage for the Cypher Vol. 1 collection dropping this month on the 26th, “Back in the Game” is a fantastically dark and trappy robotic slapper that flexes some seriously gangster vibes and gives us an exciting taste of the things we can expect from the compilation this Tuesday.

Representing the Bay Area and beyond, Cypher Vol. 1 is going to come absolutely loaded with diverse, out of this world heaters boasting pulse pounding basslines and wildly intricate sound design that aims to represent the darker, more alien side of west coast bass culture. Tunes from Tripzy Leary, Jalaya, Edekit, & Torbjørn only represent a small portion of the talent packed into this debut record, so mark those calendars because this is definitely a can’t miss for bass music fans everywhere.

Perhaps more widely known for his role as 1/2 of the aggressive, heavy Dubstep duo, Raidboss, Dalfin’s solo project has been making waves underground with art that focuses more on the deeper, weirder, and more nuanced/technical side of bass music and ‘Coral Cove’ is a shining example of just that.

Boasting three hot solo tracks and a vibey collab with Ananaki, ‘Coral Cove’ wastes no time getting down to business with deep, heavyweight basslines and glitched out, bitcrushed synths interwoven with distorted vocal samples, and deceptively nuanced percussion patterns that keep you moving from start to finish. This is exactly the kind of bass music that we love over here, and we can’t wait to hear whats next!

This one flew under the radar last week, but we are so glad to have caught it again in our SoundCloud stream. If you fux with bass music, chances are you’ve probably come across one if not both of these names in your journey through the weird wild world of computer sounds. Chops Junkie and Moniker have been making noise in the west coast & midwest respectively for a several years now, and with Moniker’s recent exodus to the California, anyone even remotely familiar with their individual styles knew a collaboration was inevitable.

‘Pull the Pin’ flexes the strengths of both artists into a squishy, metallic, wonked-out, dubstep heater that succeeds by synthesizing a classic song structure from a truly twisted array of bouncy, gritty and punched up sounds. This tune is sure to be gracing many a sound system as festival season winds down. Dubstep has had a long strange journey through the west coast over the years, so it’s always refreshing to see it done proper.

Well played boys.

It seems like it’s been forever since we’ve heard something from Sayer that wasn’t a collab or a remix, and after launching bass music into a brand new direction alongside legends like Bleep Bloop, G Jones, Nasty Nasty, & Proko, his absence within the community has definitely been felt by many. Luckily for us, the Oakland native is back and better than ever with a brand new, highly evolved sound that shows us just how hard at work he’s been since Human Error dropped on us last year.

Avarice represents 9 months of blood, sweat, & tears for Sayer and this mercilessly meticulous attention to detail shines very brightly indeed throughout the entire body of work.
Perfectly distorted synths, brilliantly punchy drums & some of the grittiest, heaviest basslines I’ve heard all year permeate the very fabric of this EP, and will undoubtedly have bassheads everywhere signing praises for the return of one of the west coast’s finest.

However, what really stuck with me about this release is the incredible song structure and highly, highly intelligent use of space, as well as the ridiculous cleanliness of it all. I mean, for God’s sake, this whole EP’s been spit shined, it’s amazing.

Avarice is certainly not for the faint of heart, but it absolutely bleeds class and intelligence; from the sound design, right on down to the vocal samples. This is freeform experimental bass music at its finest.

So don’t hesitate; go grab Avarice today and celebrate the return of Sayer!

If you’ve been listening to bass music in 2019, chances are you’ve heard of these guys before even if you didn’t know it at the time. This year has seen an absolutely relentless deluge of massively crunchy, 808-infused trapstep collaborations and singles from these Chicago natives, and this latest log on the fire is yet another 100% certified heater.

‘Get To Work’ features punchy metallic drums, gritty, oscillating synths, & a seriously funky forward momentum that carries you all the way through into a beautifully twisted second half. So chalk another one up for the bassheads, this tune gets to work. Grab it below!

Known far and wide as the undisputed Breakbeat/Drum & Bass gods of the past 10 years, Noisia is a name that resonates with electronic fans of all shapes and sizes for a multitude of reasons. Their relentless, meticulously crafted music is definitely not for the faint of heart, but their particular take on D&B is about as smart, and intellectually visceral as one can get. This latest tune with Phace is yet another addition to the long list of collaborations these guys have put out together, and it doesn’t waste any time getting down to business with its dark, gritty, unstoppable attitude. At the very least ‘Non Responsive’ is definitely here to elevate your heart rate.

I like to think of these guys as producers’ producers. Expertly wielding their vast wealth of sound design and music theory know-how to give us the perfect amount of abrasion and excitement without breaking the surface tension that plunges so many hardcore D&B tunes into chaos. Take a listen for yourself here, and keep it locked on FUXWITHIT for more Noisia!
