Shambhala‘s sold-out 20th anniversary is QUICKLY approaching – by now, most ticketholders have already studied, dissected and conducted field tests on the 2017 schedule. There’s a slew of top-notch artists who will be performing on August 10th-14th, but before we fully praise what has yet to happen, we’re taking a look at some of the highlights of last year, to help further build the upcoming hype. This list is going to include some of the most talked-about and lauded released sets of last year’s bonanza, along with who you can catch for a similar vibe this year.

Please note: this is a small list derived from a MUCH bigger one (the actual lineup); your “mileage” may vary.

REZZ

Stage: Pagoda
Her debut at last year’s event turned so many heads, and had people raving about it months after the festival. It’s a dark, mysterous and quirky set, and features some stellar IDs which have now been revealed since, including her widely-sought ‘Relax‘, off her upcoming album Mass Manipulation. Speaking of, the album releases days before this year’s event, and you can guarantee that some, if not most of its tracks will be present in her set.

The Pagoda itself (pictured above) is undergoing a makeover this year as well, which amplifies the likelihood that this set is going to be etched into the history books, as well as the hearts of her devoted cult following.

Stage: Village
As the first artist featured in the Shambhala Live video series, London’s drum & bass wizard tore down the Village, going across all fronts of the genre – from the smoothest of liquid d&b, to the heaviest and dirtiest neurofunk, you’ll be rinsing out for an hour and a half straight to this killer set, which you can experience/re-live both audibly and visually.

Special mention goes to the 32-minute mark, where his classic ‘Out The Blue‘ is accompanied by an intense and magical spectacle, thanks to the sheer radiance of the gargantuan disco ball hanging overhead.
The Vancouver-based DJ always knows how to keep his music true to the ethos of the funkiest place on Earth, and returns to Shambhala to lay down some of the grooviest, sexiest funk this world has come to experience. From some booty-bumpin’ disco, to the wubbiest of glitch hop, you’ll feel like you’re on the set of Soul Train, breakin’ it down in ways you didn’t think imaginable.

Nearly every song on the tracklist is an original or remix done by/with K+Lab, and he knows exactly how/where each puzzle piece fits together, to create a musical mosaic that will leave you wanting more.

Stage: Living Room
This is most of Sabo’s 5.5-hour marathon sunrise set, which said goodbye to the final night of the festival into Monday morning. After an exuberant weekend, it was the perfect cooldown before the masses started making their way back to civilization.

He laid down some globally inspired house and tech vibes for a set which was tranquil and flowed smoothly, just like the nearby Salmo river. If you’re looking for something to set the mood for a daytime pool party, or a late-night dip, this will easily help you get comfortable, no matter which body of water you choose to swim in. Toulouse-based Chloé Herry, best known as CloZee, rocked the Grove on the evening of her Shambs debut. Her mix featured an eclectic mix of a variety of sounds – from some low-to-the-ground frequencies, to world-influenced melodies, as well as a good number of throwbacks and hip-hop remixes to get the crowd singing along and feeling nostalgic.

Her own natural flair of magic, combined with that of the Grove’s, brought about a heavy yet euphoric set, which is creating a lot of buzz for her return this year.

Stage: Amphitheatre
If there’s anyone who can make weird feel like the norm, it’s Brooklyn’s Jasha Tull, a.k.a. Space Jesus. Along with Sub Focus and Getter, he was treated to a Shambhala Live video of his own, which shows a glimpse of what went down the eve before the festival was in full swing.

He was also a very soothing voice amidst the wild, weird madness – at intermittent points, he would hop on the mic, and spread loving vibes into the crowd. Whether from homesickness, being a first-timer, or whatever other reason, he also assured anybody freaking out/uneasy/paranoid about anything that everything will be alright, and to just take in the moment and let go.

His set includes the track ‘M. Night Shambhala‘, which he created to express his love for the festival since his 2015 debut!
This is a rather monumental time for the Canadian bass maestro, given that he’s preparing a special 10th anniversary set for this year’s shindig, along with the launch of his own music festival later this year. At nearly 3 million views since its release, this set brings the full force of the Village to your speakers, so take caution in where you choose to unleash this.

And to those going to both festivals this year, I hope you realize that you’re THE envy of the town.

Carlos Coleman, aka “Los” or “King Los,” has been active since 1999. He’s put out more than ten mixtapes and albums in that time. And I’ll bet that a good portion of our readers have never even heard of him. I’m here to change that.

I first heard about King Los in an interview with one of my favorite rappers of all time, R.A. the Rugged Man. He said that Kendrick Lamar “is not a top five lyricist.” Now Kendrick is another favorite artist of mine, so I had to hear who R.A. the Rugged Man thought was better. On his “artists who could slice Kendrick up” list, he names King Los. In the process, he changed my standards for rap completely.

I like to think of King Los as the Biggie Smalls of the 21st Century. So much of Biggie’s library was characterized by stories contrasting the life he knew before fame and the lifestyle he’d attained: stories of crime and violence contrasted with stories of decadence and luxury. King Los’s music has a similar focus, but his lyrical style is completely different. I’d argue that he’s an even better battle rapper. Los’s verses are so dense that they have their own gravitational pull. He makes insightful observations and fun references with wordplay and complex internal rhyme schemes; he shifts his tempo mid-song, frequently spitting tongue-twisters at breakneck speed. These are just a few of the reasons why I’m uncomfortable referring to an average King Los track as a song. Los doesn’t write music: he builds lyrical architecture. Los uses language to build a small model of his world, then he walks you through it.

It can be hard to make a top 5 list when you love the whole catalogue, but I’ve given it a shot. If you take nothing else away from this piece, check out some of the songs below. If your favorite isn’t on here, leave a comment about how wrong my choices were!

1. ‘Becoming King’ – Becoming King, 2013

This seems like a good place to start. Los flexes his lyrical muscles so hard that he proves he deserves to be called King. The whole song is fire, but my favorite parts are in the first verse:

I’m sick and disgusting because I
Think of this shit and I spit it quick as it comin’
I’m breakin’ niggas in half and I’m makin’ wishes
I’m buggin’
I tell them niggas get ready
they ‘bout witness the ugliest shit

and:

Say I
Play secretary, get the paper
Lil’ nigga ballin’ like A.I., may I
Break a ho down, don’t play her, player
From the motherfuckin’ Himalayas
Okay I
Kill every rapper I see it’s a wrap
When I catch ‘em I’m wrapping my hands ‘round they neck
And they chockin’, I’m rappin’, it’s classic
They rappin’ like candy that’s wrapped in that plastic I’m rappin’
Jurassic bars, classic cars
Badass bitches and nasty broads

2. ‘Creator’ – Zero Gravity 2, 2014

A beautiful hymn with a hint of sacrilege, ‘Creator’ shows us that Los is as much a storyteller as a battle rapper. Los explains how grateful he is to have risen above the life that he could have led. He explains that he wishes he could go back in time with what he knows now to avoid the mistakes of his past, but that even if he could he’d still probably fuck up along the way. He tells a hypothetical story about trying to get revenge on some guys who beat him and his cousin. While justifying his revenge, he says:

See when you truly affected confusion is never gone
Every day we losin’ the youth bein’ used as the devil’s pawn
As he thought, “I’ma kill him, fuck baskin’ in all this sorrow
If these niggas murdered me they’d be back in the club tomorrow”

3. ‘Don’t Get In My Way’ – Zero Gravity 2, 2014

There’s a lot to love about this song, but I’ll try to be brief. As the intro explains, it’s inspired by the story of Garnett Smith, a drug dealer who was imprisoned while Los was working on this mixtape. There is one reason above all others why this song deserves a spot on this list: the “get it?” Every now and then, King Los follows a reference up with a few lines explaining the joke. When you read a description, it doesn’t sound so special. But I promise it is:

Benz on the arm, you can call that an elbow
Get it? I said Benz on the arm
Meaning what you push depends on the strength of your arm
And at the same time, your elbow bends on your arm
But I’m really in a Bent, with the arm
And I’ve got it bullet proof, so really I’ve got the whole bent armed
Same color as baking soda with the old bent arm.

4. ‘Play Too Rough’ – Zero Gravity 2, 2014

“Jaws hears music when I’m comin’.” I guess Los has always been competitive, aggressive, and maybe a little cocky, but ‘Play Too Rough’ is proof that he’s got the chops to back it all up. This and ‘Bar Mitzvah’ are some of the best battle rap I’ve heard. I can’t think of a single artist who I’d be confident could take Los in a rap battle. It’s hard to pick a favorite part here, but I’ve always loved the end of the song:

My crib go crazy
Ain’t the 80’s
Ladies niggas kissin’ babies
They can shake me like they shake the hate in Haiti
But can’t break me
Hate me, love me, make me ugly
If you want a bitch, I’m from the fuckin’ corner
The Wire, the fire inspired
That’s why I play too rough,
Play too rough,
I done seen Demons attack, and Angels rush,
Ruptured spleen, I ain’t the sickest?
My nigga the fuck you mean?
King.

5. ‘War’ – God, Money, War (2015)

I wish I could’ve majored in this album in college. I feel like that would have been a more financially responsible major than philosophy. Get it? Like when Los makes a reference and then asks if you get it?

I’ll move on.

You really need to watch the music video to experience this song. Watch it before listening to it or reading the lyrics. The song is about how the world puts people in positions where “right” and “wrong” don’t matter. Los describes the song at the end of the first verse:

Hope is fun, when I grab my gun
Come take your life or mine
Suicide, yeah it’s suicide, life is suicide
Fuck your “right” or “wrong”
the shit that I been on is “do” or “die”
if I do I die, if I don’t I die that’s suicide
got the devil with a gun against my brain
like “choose a side”
‘cause it’s a war goin’ on

Back in April, Los said on Instagram that he’s got a new album and mixtape in the works, but I haven’t seen any reliable updates since then. All I know so far is that the mixtape is supposed to be called High Frequency. The bad news is it doesn’t look like Los has released any singles or announced anything new since then; the good news is he’s got so many free mixtapes out that you can listen to him for 10+ hours without hearing the same song twice.

If anyone knows something about High Frequency or any new Los music, DEFINITELY leave a comment. Agree with this post? Disagree? Let us know below.

In 2014 Jersey Club was the hottest new genre on the rise. Producers, DJs and blogs from all around the world jumped behind it with full support. But as time passed, interest began to dwindle. The sounds became repetitive, too many producers tried to do the same thing and many moved on in search of the next hot sound. That’s not to say the genre is dead, it’s just that the hype has worn off, and that’s a good thing. The trend riders have abandoned ship, allowing those who truly care about the genre to keep it alive and thriving. One of the artists working to move it forward is Jersey City’s DJ HOOD. The producer/DJ is working hard to make his mark and stand out from the crowd. So what makes DJ HOOD different? We’ll let him tell it.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/207731577″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

“For one I don’t follow in anyones footsteps. I try to be as different as possible combining sounds from dubstep, reggae, and trap,” says HOOD. It’s these elements infused with a more traditional club sound that allow his music to stay original while being instantly recognizable. While many producers are flipping whatever R&B or rap anthem is hot at the moment, HOOD takes on records you’d never expect to be brought to Jersey. From Darude’s ‘Sandstorm’, to dubstep cuts from Eptic and even trap records from Party Thieves & ATLiens.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/197739160″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

“I think Jersey club is going down hill only because everyone is doing the same thing. There will be 8 producers that remix the same song the same way. People need to start making more originals and focus on bringing new sounds and new styles to Jersey club,” he tells us. HOOD has made a name for himself predominately off doing remixes but he clarifies this saying, “The main reason why I put out more remixes than originals is because I’m not signed to any legit labels at the moment, but believe me I have a ton of original work that I’m dying to put out. Before I do, I need to make sure my music will be distributed the right way and protected. At the moment I’m supported by clubjersey, brick bandits, and many more independent labels!”

Despite the success of his remixes he’s staying to true his words and focusing on creating more originals. He’s currently in the process of writing a new EP with some pretty impressive features, “In 2016 I’ll be dropping my EP called Blackout, if I’m not mistaken it should be out by the Spring or so. I have a bunch of dope DJs that will be featured on it such as Yookie, DJ Sliink, Spenda C, Whipped Cream, UWhoo, and more. All originals, all fire!”

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/198957121″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Still not convinced that DJ HOOD is an artist to watch out for in 2016? Add in the fact that he just received support from the biggest name electronic music: Skrillex. DJ HOOD provides a little insight into the full story, “Man I was told by Yookie that Skrillex played my (‘The End’) remix at EDC Brasil and honestly I didn’t believe it until I checked it out myself. It was one of the best feelings ever, to have one of the worlds most famous DJs play YOUR track. Amazing. I did my research to see exactly how the track got to him. I found out that DJ Sliink gave it to him when they hung out in L.A and Sliink got the track directly from me a while back. That track has been a hit, I received tons of videos of it being played at big venues across the world and I figured it would be a matter of time before it got into the right hands. I also contacted Eptic about the remix and he liked it a lot.”

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/238609571″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Look out for DJ HOOD in 2016, getting support from your favourite DJs while working to push the boundaries of Jersey Club.

There are few feelings better than stumbling across an artist that instantly amazes you. It’s a rare occurrence, but when it happens it’s strikingly memorable. When I came across Oddisee’s Odd Renditions early last year I thought, “who is this guy and why have I never heard of him?” I pride myself in being in the know when it comes to music and the fact that a hip-hop artist that is this amazing wasn’t on my radar was unsettling. Needless to say I became familiar with him very quickly with his music constantly on repeat. As I started to frame this write-up in my mind, I began drawing parallels to legends: A one man OutKast? Talib Kweli with a southern sound? A 2014 Q-Tip? In the end I concluded that comparing Oddisee to another artist is unjust…so just pretend you didn’t read that last sentence. What makes him so great? Everything. From his production, to his flow, his lyrics to his voice and overall sound. He’s original, introspective, and a breathe of fresh air, yet he almost immediately seems familiar.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/113143440″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

His most recent release Tangible Dream is a mixtape that exemplifies his current position. Oddisee is man living his dream. Unlike many he doesn’t strive for Penthouse’s, Private Jets, $1000 Champagne bottles or even immense fame. His dream is tangible and he his living right now, “All I want to do is make music for a living so that I can live to make music.” It’s message that should be taught in every classroom and embedded in the minds of society. Though the project was released as a mixtape it was easily one of the best bodies of work in hip-hop last year and could be mentioned in the conversation for album of the year (though it’s not technically an album). His best work to date, Tangible Dream showcases his versatility and sharp wit. The album opens with the title track where Oddisee paints pictures of his grind over a massive backdrop with militant snares. ‘Yeezus Was a Mortal’ takes aim at rappers who liken themselves to gods while flaunting his own skills.

“They see themselves as God or regard them selves as the chief/ The streets is hungry for kings, the kings are hunting for rings/ My nigga I don’t wear jewelry so fuck who rocking a chain/ I’m just rocking a beat, mo I’m just doing my thing/ Making money from rapping who claiming that talk is cheap/ If record sales and talent was ever one in the same/ I’d be running the game if that rule were ever to change/ But this a tangible dream, I don’t do it for fame”

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/113142998″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

‘Killing Time’ combines ominous loops with hard hitting drums for an anthem that’ll have you rapping along with ferocity. It’s also one of my favourite songs in the past 12 months. As the project progresses the vibe becomes more laid-back with Oddisee reflecting on life and relationships. His intelligence, wordplay, wise views and conversational style are reminiscent of legendary chi-town MC Common (there I go drawing comparisons again). ‘Yeah & Nah’ is another standout with the rapper displaying the lack of black and white that is life. “Is all about the business? Yeah and nah/ All for the music and lyrics? Yeah and nah/Do I fuck with niggas? Yeah and nah/ Do I care about who gone hear this? Yeah and nah”. From beginning to end Tangible Dream provides proof that Oddisee continues to refine his skills and get better with time.

The Beauty In All was released alongside Tangible Dream. The album is a 12 track instrumental effort that showcases Oddisee as a producer. It’s a mellow and easy listen that is the perfect backdrop to a Sunday afternoon or a great companion while studying. Standout tracks include ‘After Thoughts’, ‘The Gospel’ and ‘Patience in Play’ though I’d recommend just letting it play from front to back. In 2012, Oddisee released his first official solo album People Hear What They See. Taking an interesting approach Oddisee wrote the entire album outside while listening to the instrumentals he previously produced. The unorthodox approach paid off allowing for songs that transcended his individual experience yet still feel genuine and uncontrived. Can’t miss tracks include ‘Ready to Rock’, ‘American Greed’, ‘The Need Superficial’, and ‘Another’s Grind’.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/49580695″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

The final project I would like to highlight is Odd Renditions. The four track EP saw Oddisse remixing and rapping over some of his favorite artists which included K-OS, Bon Iver, Metronomy and Marvin Gaye. The end result is stunning, unique, and timeless. The project is a strong argument for why remixing music is immensely beneficial for everyone from the original artist, the remixer and most importantly the listener.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/playlists/1979943″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”250″ iframe=”true” /]

Moving from his earlier work to present day, Oddisee recently linked up with french producer 20syl for ‘Ongoing Thing’. A perfect match with a flawless fusion of hip-hop and electronic influence to create a smooth summer anthem. On the track he raps ‘I ain’t asking for change, I’m good at coining a phrase/ What I want is more than ever and never to fade away/ Is that too much to ask? Good, cause I ain’t askin’/ Already into action, I’ll have your answer retracted”. Considering his drive and the amazing music he has already created he’s poised to do just that. Oddisee’s catalog goes far deeper than the music showcased within this post. For even more Oddisee be sure to check out his BandCamp page and official website.

About two weeks ago my homie mentioned the name G-Eazy and called that he would be next up. After tearing through his online catalog and debut album, I’m convinced.

It’s not an eazy (see what I did there?) task to come up, create a grassroots fan-base and turn that into a commercially profitable rap career these days. Especially without a deal. I mean, everyone may think it is. All it ever takes is one song right? Wrong. It takes a lot more than that. When everyone can easily dig through the url’s (rather than crates) and find all of your joints, they can easily make the call that you’re just a one-hit wonder likely to fade and never to be heard of again until Dr. Drew’s Celebrity Rehab 10 or some shit (too harsh?). It’s true though.

What I’m trying to say is that, G-Eazy is next up because of how he’s perfected his brand and even more importantly, the kid from the Bay Area makes some dope ass music. I mean, this is good hip hop shit. He’s got everything for you to play. G can be great lyrically and his approach and delivery on records really shines through. His widespread influence from music makes him incredibly versatile. This kid reminds me a lot of Drake and his So Far Gone days. G-Eazy is right at the cusp of cracking into the mainstream and taking it for hostage. I mean, obviously this is mostly opinion but it’s hard to tell me otherwise. G-Eazy has amassed more than 140,000 SoundCloud followers and an average of 1 million plays on each song. Plus with the recent release of These Things Happen that’s currently sitting pretty at #3 on the Hip-Hop/Rap iTunes charts, which happens to feature Bay Area God, E-40, and joining Wayne and Drake on tour, G-Eazy is making all the right moves to propel himself into mainstream success.

Below I’ve added a mini-mix that includes a few tracks off of the album which is now available for download on iTunes. See what I’m super hype about and listen for yourself. Calling it now, I Mean It, Been On and Lotta That; though they’ve been out for a while, are going to become summer staples. G-Eazy does it – and does it well.

“you rappers just talk a bunch/ stress me out, I chop a dutch/

weak rappers try to bite the sound, but my style is hard to munch…”

LISTEN: These Things Happen (Mini-Mix)

Something can be said about an artist who shines through a crowd of “producers” and “DJ’s” in the digital age. In a time where music production software is incredibly easy to download, hack and use; virtually anyone can become a music producer. Hell, I’ve even tried my hand at it (clearly I was terrible at it). One producer that shines through is Andreas Asingh. This relatively new DJ and producer hailing from Copenhagen is making major strides in the game and people are starting to notice. After stumbling across his SoundCloud a week or so ago, I immediately thought, this kid is going to blow up. Already, Andreas (stage name SLOWOLF) has collaborated with Hip Hop legend Raekwon, been featured BBC 1Xtra and made it to the top of the Danish iTunes Electronic Album charts. Talk about making moves.

This is all a result of his music. SLOWOLF combines a few genres to create a sound that no one can really put their finger on, and that’s what sets him apart. His ability to blend hip hop and bass with a futuristic twist grabs the listener immediately and makes you want to hear more. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, about a year and a half ago, I was strictly a hip hop head. Hearing and enjoying Trap tunes really opened me up to a slew of different genres. SLOWOLF is taking it to another level. There are definitely elements of hip hop, trap, EDM and bass in his music and it all comes together well. His SoundCloud includes his catalog of tracks from just under a year. Below, I’ve included some of the standout singles and tracks from his latest Bounty EP.

The first track is one of his oldest. This rework of the Rick Ross smash “Hustlin” is dope. Right from the gate your head is nodding and the bass is that rattle-the-trunk bass. Check it out below.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/107618908″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Next up is the Diamonds flip. The way SLOWOLF chops the vocals is beautiful. Rihanna sped up sounds amazing over this beat. The build up and drops are dope. The bass on this will knock for a street block and the machine gun snares are a dope contrast to this slower than usual track (the bpm on this seems slower than some of his other work). But when it picks up, it knocks! This is simply a great track.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/111044038″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Another standout track from SLOWOLF comes from his Bounty EP. The track is called Princess and features Raekwon, Benny Banks and Takura. The Chef comes through with dope verses and the switch up on the beat when Benny Banks jumps in is dope. Check it out below.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/149639368″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Regardless of his name, SLOWOLF shows no signs of slowing down. He continues to drop new music every Friday as a part of his #slowolffridays series which started back in April and will end in July. Check out the full Bounty EP below and follow SLOWOLF on Facebook, Twitter and SoundCloud. The kid is dope!

Jersey Club has been making some serious waves in the past year and has quickly become one of our favorite genres at FUXWITHIT. Though it’s been around for over a decade, it has just recently garnered worldwide attention. If you’ve listen to our Satin Sheets x Silk Beats playlists you should be quite familiar. If not, this the perfect way to get acquainted. We’ve listed 6 of our favorite Jersey Club producers below and we feel there’s no better way to familiarize yourself with a musical genre than by listening to it. Some may take offense to us including so many producers from outside of New Jersey, but that’s fine let us know in the comments. Without further adieu let’s get into it.

I originally came across Sliink on his collab with Flosstradamus – ‘Test Me’ and have been watching him closely ever since. Since then, Sliink has dropped some the biggest Jersey Club tracks to date. His collaboration with DJ Hoodboi & Trippy Turtle on the remix of August Alsina – ‘Sucka’ is the perfect track to introduce newcomers to the genre. His remix of Toni Romiti – Miss Me ( Ft. Dj Bake) shows a darker side of his production while still containing stunning vocals. The vocal chops, kicks and rap samples are all perfectly placed. Other notable tracks include: Le Youth – C O O L (DJ Sliink Remix), Wale – Bad (DjSliink Booty Bounce Remix), and Trey Songz – Na Na (DJ Sliink Remix). In addition to producing great music, Sliink is also a huge supporter of fellow artists; constantly re-posting and sharing Jersey Club tunes from other artists. Just take a scroll through his SoundCloud and see all the artists he has backed.

DJ Hoodboi has made a huge name for himself remixing R&B tracks into Jersey Club bangers. With remixes of Sisqo, R. Kelly, Genuwine and August Alsina under his belt, Hooboi has proven his ability to make sexy tracks even sexier. He’s also done some pretty stellar remixes of rap tracks flipping Big Sean’s – ‘Marvin & Chardonnay’ with Trippy Turtle and Future’s – ‘Honest’ with Arnold. His biggest track to date is an official remix of Chromeo’s summer smash ‘Jealous’. Quite possibly the best remix of the track yet and easily one of my favorite tracks for enjoying the warm weather, this is a must listen.

Early speculation was that it was a side project of Cashmere Cat, but recent appearances of the two together have dispelled the rumors and also lead many to believe Trippy Turtle is actually fellow Norweigen Lido. Regardless of his identity the producers abilities are undebatable. His standout collaborations have already been noted above but he has a ton of stellar solo work. His remix of ‘Give It 2 U’ will have you signing Robin Thicke like it’s 2013. Other must listens include his flip of Twista’s – ‘Wetter’ (which does not contain Twista) and Trey Songz – ‘NaNa’. Much like his homie DJ Hoodboi, the Turle was recently recruited to do an offical remix for a big name artist (Ed Sheeran) and he did not disappoint. Check out ‘SING’ below.

I recently purchased it off BandCamp and it was easily the best $1 I’ve spent in a long time. Stand out tracks like ‘She Get It From Her Mama’ and ‘4:34’ demonstrate why he deserves a spot on this list. His sensual remix of R. Kelly – Legs Shakin and Denzel Curry – THREATZ [Promnite Edition] (though the latter is not Jersey Club) further prove why Promnite is one of the hottest producers out right now.

A lot, apparently. The duo known as Vices have dropped some of the best Jersey Club tracks of the past year. Most notably their collaboration with Jailo – ‘Loving You (Long Time)’ and solo effort ‘Wanna Luv U’ exemplify the elegant, melodic sound that is being infused into the genre. Their most recent collaboration with K1K0 – ‘C’mon Bae’ sees them flipping a Donna Summers disco record. It’s an infectiously sweet tune that you can’t help but enjoy. In addition, they’ve done killer remixes for Twista & Kanye West, Liz, Migos, SirOJ and many more. All this adds up to Vices being one of the best breakout production duos of the year.

Andrew Luce is an aspiring young Dj/producer from San Francisco, CA. At only 16 years old, this kid has been killing the remix game, taking hip-hop and R&B records to the next level. Upon hearing his latest remix of Jeremih’s ‘Birthday Sex’ (listen below) I was blown away. The track features a dark and sensual vibe that is reminiscent of Cashmere Cat . Hearing that track alone I thought, “damn this dude is cold” but as I began to dig deeper into his material, I became more and more impressed. If you’re feeling it, be sure to check out his sexy remix of The Weeknd – Drunk in Love (Remix) and his take on T-Pain’s club classic ‘Buy You a Drank‘.

Another mindblowing tune is his flip of 50 Cent’s ‘Candy Shop’. Utilizing the vocals from the original, Andrew Luce updates it with an insane 2014 trap twist. The drops are absolutely bonkers, sounding like something you’d expect from DJ Snake. Speaking of bangers, his remix of Far East Movement & Sidney Samson – Bang It To The Curb is another unbelievable track. It combines twerked out builds, low bass drops and some crazy cowbell that’ll make you lose your shit. He absolutely murders that cowbell, check it out below.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/132057550″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Though Andrew Luce has really shined as producer who makes hard hitting tracks, he can also switch it up. His original ‘Madeline’ shows his ability to craft chilled out, breathe taking vibes. His remix of ‘Thirteen‘ further illustrates his diversity by taking a step into the Dubstep realm. Not only are his songs amazing but they are also all free downloads!

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/122170384″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

It’s only a matter of time before you start hearing Andrew Luce’s name and music at every festival, club and party you attend. He is set to drop a remix of Get Low – Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz on Wednesday (4/9/2014) which will likely be destroying clubs for the foreseeable future. Be sure to show him some love on Facebook and Twitter. And check out his SoundCloud for even more bangin’ tunes.

At fuxwithit we’re always working to provide you with new sounds, break up-and-coming artists and generally give you new shit to bump. Keeping in line with that we’ve got an amazing artist you need to check out. His name is Cesqeaux and he hails from Groningen, Netherlands. He’s dj/producer who makes Moombahton, Trap, Eclectic, & Generation Bass. You may have heard his name if you’re a fan of Dutch superstars Yellow Claw. That’s where I first caught wind of him, but never took the time to really look into his material. That is, until I heard the tracks off his EL Sabora EP with D’Maduro. The 3 song EP fuses latin music with Moombahton and Trap for a truly original and absolutely amazing sound. Every track is a certified banger, guaranteed to get you dancing. Stream the EP below.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/playlists/20802377″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true” width=”100%” height=”350″ iframe=”true” /]

Outside of the EP, Cesqeaux has also done a number of notable collaborations with Yellow Claw. The two biggest tracks being ‘IBETCHU’ and ‘Make It Clap’. Both contain massive builds and insane drops that’ll destroy any festival. Also be sure to check out the chilling ‘Psycho’ which will add some serious horror to any Halloween set it’s featured in.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/80337564″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Just because Cesqeaux has done some killer collaborations don’t doubt his ability to hold his own on a record. His originals ‘Justice’ and ‘Drill’ pack a serious hard hitting punch and his remix game is no joke either. Just listen to The Bloody Beetroots feat. Steve Aoki – Warp 2.0 (Cesqeaux TRAP 2.5 REMIX) or his remix of Justin Timerlake’s – Don’t Hold The Wall. If you’ve enjoyed the sounds, be sure to check out Cesqeaux on Twitter & Facebook and be sure to check back here for his new releases.
