“Yeah, I say fuck you, ‘less I’m with ya/If I take you out of the picture, I know real niggas won’t miss ya/No lie, no lie, no lie-ee-i-ee-i/No lie, no lie, no lie-ee-i-ee-i…” the anthematic chant from Drake on 2 Chainz’s ‘No Lie’ provided the perfect foundation for Cashmere Cat’s iconic edit. The track is a testament to Cashmere Cat’s mastery some seven years after it’s release. The mixture of casual, listener-friendly vocals with brain-bending production create a duality that would become Cashmere’s signature. Despite being labelled as an edit, this one is so much more. From the icy strings, to the ADHD-inspired builds, to the decadent drops, this is a work of art. Sprinkle in a few 2 Chainz adlibs for good measure and this one is truly timeless. Reliving this has me imagining what it would sounds like if Cashmere Cat made a return to rap bootlegs…one can dream right?

Cashmere Cat Taps Tory Lanez, Starrah & 2 Chainz for New Single ‘Throw Myself a Party’

As Cashmere Cat continues to gear up for the release of his debut album, Wild Love, he has unleashed the third single ‘Throw Myself A Party’. The track features heavy hitters 2 Chainz and Tory Lanez and promising up-and-comer Starrah (‘Catching Plays’). It’s an interesting blend of sounds that somehow fit together tremendously. It’s part poppy, part rap and part signature Cashmere Cat. ‘Throw Myself A Party’ manages to toe the line between radio friendly simplicity and complex and forward-thinking backing. This may be Cashmere Cat’s best album cut yet.
