HUCCI Flips 50 Cent On New Track ‘Life’

Young UK trap legend HUCCI is back! The producer just blessed fans with his first release in months with ‘Life’. The track see HUCCI flipping vocals from 50 Cent’s ‘Hustler’s Ambition,’ while crafting a dark and grimy sound around it. The vocal loop “America got a thing for this gangster shit” is as fitting as ever considering the reign of the trap genre in recent years. Add in the icy synths and you’ve got one hell of a tune. Trippy Turtle Flips 50 Cent on ’21’

There’s not much better than a surprise Trippy Turtle drop. Tonight we received just that with the Turtle unleashing his 50 Cent & Nate Dogg flip of ’21 Questions.’ The fittingly titled ’21’ takes the classic cut to Jersey. Of course, Trippy chops and freaks the beat with ease paying respect to the OG, while priming it for the club. It’s nostalgic, fun, silly, and stupid nice. Lil’ Kim ft. 50 Cent – Magic Stick (Michael Berry Remix)

It looks like 2015 is set to be the biggest year for G-house yet (and I couldn’t;t be more happy about it). The combination of deep house grooves and rap bars are irresistible to anyone who is a fan of rap and electronic music. The latest track to rouse my interest is a rework of ‘Magic Stick’ from Philly based producer Michael Berry. I didn’t think it was possible but the remix makes the track even sexier and twice as dirty. This isn’t Berry’s first impressive effort, be sure to check out ‘Pretty Boy Swag’ and ‘IDFWU’. Earlier this week The Game’s debut album The Documentary celebrated it’s 10 year anniversary. To celebrate we’d like to take a look at the debut single ‘Westside Story’. Thanks to Game’s charasmatic sound, eyebrow raising bars and production from Dr. Dre and Scott Storch the song quickly garnered major buzz and new fans. The fact that G-Unit head honcho 50 Cent lended himself to the hook couldn’t have hurt either. The track is a certified West coast anthem that’s bursting with quotable lyrics,“Since the West coast fell off, the streets been watchin’, The West coast never fell off, I was asleep in Compton, Aftermath been here, the beats been knockin’, Nate Dogg doin’ his thing, DPG still poppin’
I got California Love, fuckin’ bitches to that ‘Pac shit, and Westside Connection, been had it locked bitch”. If you were a hip-hop fan back in 05′ you’ll probably still be able to rap along bar for bar. Enjoy!

#tbt – Tracks You May Have Missed – D12 – Rap Game

When 8 Mile dropped the lead single from the movie’s soundtrack ‘Lose Yourself’ stole the spotlight and shine from the rest of the tracks from the album. Though it’s shine was well deserved, a lot of people who didn’t cop or take in the soundtrack missed a few stellar joints. One of these joints is the D12 posse cut ‘Rap Game’ which also features 50 Cent on the hook. The Detroit spitters address the politics and the beef in the rap game over a beat produced by Eminem. As you may have already guessed, Em has the best verse on the track. Not only is the flow impeccable, he also manages to rap in Pig Latin (razycay)! Peep the track below and reminisce on the Shady/Aftermath takeover that swept 2000 onwards.

50 cent is back and I’m not talking about Animal Ambition or the G-Unit reunion. Mr. remix, Andrew Luce has come through with a remix of his club classic ‘Disco Inferno’ and “It’s hot!”. Adding some trunk rattling bass and some stellar synth work he brings the track into 2014. Even better, like all of Andrew’s remixes it’s a free download! #tbt – Tracks You May Have Missed – G Unit – G’d Up

It’s the Unit, the mighty Unit. This week’s throwback comes from the guys that killed the mixtape circuit for a few years in the early 2000’s. In the last few days 50 Cent’s unruly gang has made a serious resurgence. They (50, Banks, Yayo and Buck) appeared on Hot 97’s Summer Jam stage in complete reunion form, performed a few tracks and showed the world that they were back together and stronger than ever. Since then they dropped two tracks, including a remix of Drake’s summer smash, ‘0 to 100’. You can peep that here.

The track we picked for this week’s Tracks You May Have Missed series comes from the Unit’s debut album. After garnering insane popularity and media attention, Fif decided to put out an album with the guys he came into the game with. Beg For Mercy was a pretty tight album. The production, handled by Dre, Em and others was on point. To this day, I listen to this album and it still knocks. One of the dopest tracks off of the album is ‘G’d Up’. Crafted by Dr. Dre and Scott Storch, this beat is simple (or it may seem that way) but bangs. The track features 50, Banks and Young Buck. Most of the tracks only featured these three because of the fact that Yayo was locked up. Nonetheless, this dark beat becomes the perfect canvas for the G-Unit to drop bars about life and all its very real downs (guns and all, all of these cats were either shot at or shot at one point in their lives). The bars are dope. Some might say, “thats crazy, these guys are mediocre rappers at best”. Fair. They might not be of Lamar or Cole lyrical prowess, but they really do deliver. But Banks? – that dude is a beast lyrically (see: any mixtape).

Check out G’d Up below. It still is easily one of the best tracks from G-Unit to date.

SXSW Wrap Up

Now that SXSW has come to an end we’re taking you through some of the best moments from one of the biggest annual festivals. Now if you don’t know what SXSW is then, have a look here. This 10 day festival sets apart a whole week for music and this year some of the biggest and brightest threw down at the sponsored venues. So lets kick it off!

iTunes Festival – T.D.E. Showcase

One of the illest shows to come out of SXSW, ScHoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar shut it down. Q performed mainly form his major label debut ‘Oxymoron’ (check out the full review here) and Kendrick performed his hits off of GKMC. K Dot also brought out Jay Rock for ‘Money Trees’ which is a great moment in itself. A lot of rips have been taken down but in case you missed the live event you can check out the show through your iTunes. It was definitely a great show!

Tyler the Creator Gets Arrested for Inciting a Riot

During his show, Tyler the Creator encouraged fans to push passed security guards eventually leading to a full blown riot. His bond was set for $25,000 and he’s since been released. This all happened one day after the tragic hit-and-run that killed 2 people attending the festival. Tyler took to his Twitter account to distance himself from the incident after people began attaching his name to the accident. Footage below.

G.O.O.D. Music Showcase w/ Big Sean, Pusha T and CyHi

Getting back to the music, Big Sean closed out the G.O.O.D. Music showcase at SXSW with performances of his hits. The set list included tracks like ‘Guap’ and the posse cut ‘Clique’ with assistance from Pusha T. Kanye wasn’t available to make an appearance at this showcase, as he was with Hov running The Throne gig. Check out the tail end of the show below with Travis Scott and Pusha T.

50 Cent Premieres ‘Hold On’

After leaving Shady/Aftermath, Fif has been on a promo tear for his new album, Animal Ambition. At this years SXSW showcase, 50 debuted his latest single ‘Hold On’. Since then he has released the song officially and it is available for download on iTunes. I’m personally excited to see how the full project pans out. Although joining an independent label may mean more control over the project’s direction, the marketing dollars behind Curtis’ album won’t be as strong which may hurt his overall sales. Nas Performs ‘The World Is Yours’

SXSW is a great opportunity for music fans to see their favourite artists and during the Mass Appeal Showcase, Nas took to the stage and dropped a classic cut from Illmatic as a treat for all the fans. Without a doubt this was a big moment for SXSW. As Nas prepares to drop Illmatic XX to celebrate 20 years since the original Illmatic dropped, you can relive the hype of this moment, thanks to Vibe.

The Throne Showcase

It’s been almost 3 years since the Ye and Jay ‘Watch the Throne’ dropped. When it did, it set the tail end of the summer off. The tracks from the collaborative project still bang and that was clearly evident at this years SXSW. Jay Z and Kanye took to the stage to perform work from the album including ‘Otis‘, ‘Niggas in Paris’ and ‘Gotta Have It’. Although the footage is not the best, below is a video of the multi-platinum hit that is ‘Niggas in Paris’. And you better believe they rocked the track more than once.
