The dope boys are back! Halifax’s baddest bass duo has been laying relatively low for 2023 with their last release being the standout heater ‘Hyponotic’ off our Champions Of The Underground Vol. 1 compilation last Summer. We’ve been eagerly anticipating their return and are excited to announce the wait is over. While they’re promising a lot of music in the works, they’re blessing fans with a massive bootleg of A$AP Rocky’s ‘Sandman.’ If you’re unfamiliar with dope’s bootleg game let me first direct you to ‘SKiiMASK | WAMP’ and ‘Drug Dealer.’ Now that we’re all caught up, let’s dive into their latest.

dope’s rendition of ‘Sandman’ is riddled with their signature rap-inspired bass-heavy mastery. While the original possesses a laidback hazy feel, this rework takes the track to deeper and dirtier realms. Rocky’s swagger skates over the track providing a cornerstone while dope concoct an absolutely murderous backing. The basslines are cavernous, the drums pound, and the flow is immaculate yet gritty. The pitched-up and down vocals offer a mind-melting hook as the tracks pays homage to A$AP Yams. dope’s ‘Sandman Flip’ acts as heavy reminder of the duo’s talent while building excitement for what’s to come.

dope will be playing Future Forest this weekend, and will be supporting TSURUDA in Halifax in September. Don’t sleep.

Parisian producer Nebbra landed on my radar a few months back with his inventive rework of the trap anthem ‘Chief’. Today he returns with another re-imagination that has blown me away. Taking on Selena Gomez ‘Good For You’ the producer puts his futuristic feel to the track. It opens smooth and sexy with a lush summery feel. With sultry vocal bends and shimmering synths stabs the track perfectly displays Nebbra’s forward thinking sound. The closing verse from A$AP Rocky gives an already irresistible track some additional swag and street cred. Stream below.

A$AP Rocky recently dropped his sophomore album titled A.L.L.A. (At Long Last A$AP) and we decided what better way to celebrate his release with a look back to the track that started it all. ‘Purple Swag’ dropped in the summer of 2011 and since its release Rocky has become one of the most popular artists in the game. The track is a combination of Harlem’s ferocious flow and Houston’s slowed down trill sound. Rocky’s ability to blend these two sounds played and continues to play a major role in his success as an artist. In the video you can see the whole A$AP Mob and deceased member A$AP Yams. What happens when one of the illest pro-duo’s (get it? producer duo, ha!) remixes one of the coldest rap records of the year? You get a cold ass bootleg like this. LOUDPVCK has been consistent with their tracks and after dropping banger after certified banger, these cats are out to dominate. Rocky’s ‘Multiply’ was already a track that featured a heavy beat and the bars to go with it. LOUDPVCK’s remix adds a whole other level of heavy to it. Check out the track below.

Keep it trill. Now this is easily one of the hardest rap records of the year. In celebration of his 26th birthday, Flacko dropped a new joint including a visual. I’ve said it but I have to say it again, “Multiply” is easily one of the hardest rap records of the year. This is Rocky’s “0-100”. This is Rocky letting everybody know that despite him jumping out of the light to let his homies shine (A$AP Ferg, Ant) he’s back and he’s out for blood. I’m unclear as to what his beef is with the BEEN TRILL clothing line but hey – it doesn’t take away from the song. The track is really well produced and the switch is genius!
