As the U.K. lockdown eases, music lovers across the nation are eagerly needing some new doses of sonic enjoyment. The country needs a happy chappy to bring some smiles to people’s faces in the current climate; cue Arrdee. The seaside town of Brighton is known for its fish & chips, party lovers, quirky lifestyle, and beaches… but not for its white rappers, until now. To some, it may seem that this man has appeared out of nowhere. A new kid on the block who’s come in to make some hits and disappear. When in fact, Arrdee has been doing his thing for years and recently his opportunities got a whole lot bigger. From Rooftop Rhymes on Grime Spree TV 3 years back, to shelling Mixtape Madness, getting a number 1 and having the whole nation know your bars. Pretty good right?

Within the last four months, Arrdee has catapulted his success into the stratosphere. After his ‘Cheeky Bars’ freestyle, the hype grew stronger and just at the right time. Tion Wayne and Russ Millions recently dropped their newest collaboration ‘Body’ which fans knew was always going to have a remix filled with artists. Once again; cue Arrdee. His cheeky, slapstick lyrics of a proper English geezer, caught the hearts of the nation. Even Mia Khalifa and H3H3 Productions were caught singing “Have you seen the state of her body, if I beat it I ain’t wearing a Jonny!” – it’s been unworldly. At just 18 years of age, Arrdee is one of the hottest artists in the U.K. scene out of nowhere, all by being his cheeky self and letting it shine through in his lyrics. He’s the rapper of the moment, so here’s just three must listens to get you started.

6am In Brighton

Unashamedly repping his hometown in the best way possible. A freestyle to make his mark on the industry. “I’m just a seaside boy who sat in his ding dong rappin” and that’s exactly what this freestyle embodies. This is me. This is what I do. I’m here to stay. Arrdee’s wordplay throughout the tune has you smiling and that’s not easy to do. Fantastic track.

Plugged In

If this video doesn’t show you how much fun Arrdee is having with it, then you’ve not been watching. He’s not here to talk about a life he doesn’t live in criminal gangs, he’s here to rap about his cheeky, party lifestyle. A refreshing change some may say. “They can’t mold me into what they want, I ain’t playdo, I ain’t plastic, I ain’t gangster, this ain’t gang biz.” A freestyle that many can relate to and the numbers show.

Oliver Twist

One of the top comments on this track is, “I love the way he raps but I love his personality more,” and that pretty much sums up this breakthrough act. Hitting 1.3 million views on day 1, his latest single ‘Oliver Twist’ is more of the free-spirited character that, within just a few months, fans feel they know and love. A cracking beat with more fun lyrics makes this track a great follow-up release after the recent success of ‘Body’.

Anything could happen right now as we find ourselves at the upward curve of Arrdee’s sky-rocketing career. ‘Oliver Twist’ could very well chart and substantiate his recent reign over the nation and beyond. We may even get an Arrdee project before the year is up. It’s an exciting time for fans of the new hit machine that is this young Seaside Superstar.

As far as U.K. rap groups go, there have been some iconic names to mention over the years. Roll Deep with the OG Wiley, Boy Better Know with Skepta & JME, to name just a couple of the older generation of groups. However, with the new era of drill music, we’ve seen the rise of Homerton’s 9ers featuring Unknown T & V9, the Harlem Spartans with Loski and many more. None though, hold the weight of OFB. Based in Tottenham, on the Broadwater Farm Estate the ‘Original Farm Boys’ have had artists repping like Headie One and RV, the group is one of the more renowned U.K. drill acts of today, which of course comes with its controversy.

Like some other U.K. drill artists, OFB have been subject to having their music taken down from YouTube by request of the metropolitan police. The group’s current most active members are Bandokay and Double Lz, have been holding the name down and become the faces of OFB – but for Bandokay, YouTube removals are just a scratch of the effect the police have had on his life. Real name, Kemani Duggen, Bandokay is the son of Mark Duggan, who’s death by Police shooting led to the 2011 England Riots. A huge piece of history in the U.K. that leaves Bandokay wanting to pursue his music with OFB to an even greater degree to avoid an alternate life… and he’s done exactly that. OFB are reaching new heights with a huge following of fans that show up anywhere they go. Their ruthless, aggressive vocal flows of differing styles make their tracks rounded and full of punchlines, catchy lyrics and crowd chants. With a wide range of talent forming under the OFB name and regularly jumping in tracks together, the sky really is the limit for the Tottenham group. Here’s just three tracks to get you started…

Flick Of The Wrist

One of the top comments on this song says “Bandokay came in differently” and that’s just how the tone gets set at the beginning. The syncopated flows interweaving just sound astoundingly hard on this beat. Double Lz shells, Bando obliterates, OFB conquer. “Me and bro like Batman & Robin, back in the day – used to bat man and rob him”… Punchlines on form.

YKTV

“Offer me a deal then it better be a milli, or more.” Sounds about right coming from Lz. On this track OFB recruit in fellow member Izzpot to hold the spot SJ would normally fill. Despite fans being huge lovers of SJ, his current predicaments leave the open opportunity for another artist to have their shine and Izzpot certainly holds his own. This track had the streets in the U.K. jumping.

Daily Duppy

Does this even need explaining? The punchline kings take to Daily Duppy like a duck to water – effortless. Try and keep up if you can, the other 5 million viewers have been in the past two months. As each steps up to the mic, it’s curtains.

Anything this group does is something to look out for. What comes next, who knows… their past has been very unpredictable. However, one thing’s for sure, when these guys drop again, it’s going to slap. On a recent interview with Zeze Millz, all gets discussed in regards to where they see themselves going. Their independence is what makes them so unique right now. We can only wait and see what unfolds.

With 2021 starting off in Lockdown for the U.K., new music is on everyone’s minds but is still in short supply. However, one new breakthrough act has emerged in the tough times we’re facing and he has a lot to say. Central Cee, the 22 year old West Londoner, isn’t new to spitting real life bars – having been uploading freestyles since 2015 for the likes of LinkUpTV. However, 2020 laid an opportunity for the rising young rapper to capitalise on his lyricism, during a time where plenty can be spoken about.

Having grown up on his dad’s hip hop records from the age of 8, Central Cee’s vision has always been about setting a new tone with his music and he certainly has done that in the last year. When the pandemic hit in March last year, Central Cee began uploading freestyles in his car to his Instagram, touching on the struggles people were facing, including the U.K.’s National Health Service. Taking his skills in writing relatable lyrics to the new emerging melodic style of U.K. drill was the next step… and it really paid off. Two huge singles dropped in the months following in 2020, both racking up 8 million streams on Spotify alike. Building off his freestyles, new fans and raw talent, Central Cee has been on a spree of dropping hits since the end of last year and now has 2021 right in the palm of his hands. Here’s just a few of the tracks he’s dropped so far which are too hot to handle.

Day In The Life

No girls twerking. No expensive cars. Just Central Cee and his squad living a day in their lives, telling their story. Whether it’s the realness that you feel when watching the video or the catchy, bouncy flow that Central Cee is quickly making his own, this song will resonate with you somehow. This was only the first step for Central Cee into the limelight.

Loading

With one of the top comments on the video being “the happiest drill beat I’ve heard so far,” it’s clear that the Central Cee effect is working. Relatable lyrics on more melodic beats is definitely what’s in right now and this track is exactly that and more. A huge bop, with a swing based drill beat? What a combination.

Commitment Issues

Doing what he does best, this track tells a very honest story of something many can relate to. Central Cee relives what it feels like to love, but still find it difficult, told from the heart in a way that only he knows. That’s what makes Central Cee so likable and what makes these tracks stand out from the crowd. Taking U.K. drill and making it his own.

With ‘Commitment Issues’ dropping this past week as the latest in a long line of big hit singles for Cee, it would be no surprise to see a small EP or project on the horizon. However, right now with hits such as ‘Pinging (6 Figures)’ and ‘Loading’ still circling the radio waves & gaining a lot of attention to his name, we may see a few more bangers drop to solidify Cee first. Fine by us. Let’s see what Central Cee can really do in 2021.

It’s fair to say that some of the best hooks and features in U.K. rap of the past couple of years are down to one man: Tion Wayne. From the 9 – Edmonton, London, he is going to be this era’s Tinie Tempah. Hit after hit. If his name is on the title, it’s going to bang hard. As one of the most versatile in the industry, he’s worked with huge names from the likes of Anne Marie & Rudimental on more commercial tracks, to Stormzy, Mist and M24 on the heavier rap side of things.

Now 27 years old, Tion started his career around 10 years ago where he made a name for himself on YouTube with some early videos. 4 years later, the beginning of what would be a trio of EP’s began, Wayne’s World. As Tion’s fan base began to grow steadily, he found himself supporting heavy hitters like Rick Ross in 2016. Tion proves that it’s not about how quick you get there, but instead the talent needed to get to the top. In 2019, after nearly a decade of perseverance, Tion had his first entrance into the U.K. Singles Charts with NSG’s ‘Options’. Since then, it’s been an onslaught of top tier material including Track Of The Year at the GRM Awards with ‘I Dunno’.

His signature ‘Mmm-Mmm’ adlibs, his boppy flow techniques and his ability to write the catchiest of top lines, are all what make Tion a star in this new generation of rap music in the U.K. A truly exciting artist to be watching on their journey. Here’s just three tracks that will leave you wanting to check out his whole discography…

London

If you’re into your U.K. Drill then this really is a must listen. As the wave of this particular style of sound is changing to a more downtempo, rhythmic version of the raw U.K. rap we’ve grown to adore – Tion and M24 slide in with a smooth but deadly tune. This track really does prove that with Tion’s tone and flow structures, he can sound great on anything – arguably stealing the show yet again.

Come Over

Switching it up, a new age garage tune produced by Rudimental is arguably one of the most played pop songs in the U.K. in recent months. The feel good beat and fantastic vocal by Anne-Marie are joined by a smooth, effortless flow from our man Mr. T Wayne. Love it or hate it, it’s a solid track and one where Tion hold’s his own with some top name stars. Perhaps the start of many commercial features to come.

Deluded

After dropping 4 weeks ago, Tion’s newest collaboration with Mist is controlling the airwaves. The chorus, again, is an example of just how catchy Tion’s hooks can be. This track makes you feel exactly how the rappers look in the music video – ruthless. A joint project from these two would be something very interesting to see, as they bounce off each other in such a smooth manner throughout. It definitely goes to show how versatile Tion is.

The most recent EP, T Wayne’s World III was released by Mr Wayne in September 2019 and after a year of hot singles, it’s surely time for something even bigger. Without any substantial hints across his social media as of yet, we can only hope. Without a doubt, whatever does come from Tion next, will be something we can all enjoy.

If you’re not a member of the Dollhouse already, then prepare yourself, as you might just end up one after reading this. Born in Germany, raised in London, with Ivory Coast heritage – Ivorian Doll (IVD) has made a name for herself as the Empress of Drill in less than a couple of years. Originally starting out as an Influencer making content on both Instagram and YouTube, IVD had developed a fan base that already worshipped her attitude and unapologetic realness.

In her own words, she states “I want to be the female artist the boys are afraid of, because I’m better than they are.” Well, that’s a good aim to have in a genre that is heavily saturated with male acts. After originally moving from being an Influencer to a rapper by dropping a few tracks as a duo with fellow artist Abigail, fans agreed that IVD was born for this. When ‘The Situation’ first dropped in December 2018, it catapulted IVD into the spotlight and suddenly, after just one single, both herself and Abigail found themselves getting uploads on the big hitting YouTube channels, GRM Daily & LinkUpTV. A flurry of flashy, gritty singles followed before going solo and since then IVD has done features with the likes of BR3NYA, Poundz & Headie One. It really has been quite the year for the Doll and 2021 is only going to be bigger and better. Here are just 3 of the bangers already in her catalogue that you must hear.

Daily Duppy

To be granted the opportunity to do a Daily Duppy is both nerve-wracking and an honour for any artist, but to be offered within such a short time of diving into the music industry is a humongous achievement for IVD. The best bit, she didn’t come to play. Oozing with confidence and wordplay, this one’s too hard.

Rumours

Arguably the Empress’ biggest single to date and it’s clear to see why. Thumping kick drums, extra explicit lyrics, dancing and screw faces are all guaranteed here. Addressing the rumours thrown at her in the best way, IVD absolutely owns this tune. Her raw tone and attitude suit the beat and flow so effortlessly, this type of track sets the standard for the future.

F U Pay Me

Appearing on the Number 1 album ‘EDNA’ by Headie One, Ivorian Doll sees herself as a feature artist, sharing the status with the likes of Drake, Future and Skepta. Headie One must have seen what IVD’s fans have seen plenty of already – talent. The Doll arguably steals the show on this track with a boppy flow and clever word play like “Do this only for the fans so it’s ‘F*** You, Pay Me’ coming like sex work.” A monumental feature well delivered.

Ivorian Doll has all the talent to be a huge star in the UK, but also in America and beyond too. With choreographed dances, her specific vocal tone, sharp bars, an attitude and a huge fan base, the American audience will almost certainly take to the ruthless style she essences in her music. The journey really has only just begun for Ivorian Doll.

MIST, the Brum hitmaker that doesn’t seem to be stopping at anything. Born and raised in Birmingham, MIST comes with a different accent to many of the other artists featured on our Across The Pond segment so far. Just North of London, the area is no stranger to having rap stars, but MIST’s voice in particular seems like he was born to do it. In elements it feels similar to Pop Smoke and other greats that graced the mic – like they’re made for it. MIST isn’t afraid to rep his ends or let his accent shine through when he raps, which when mixed with an organically, aggressive sounding deep voice and snappy syncopated flow, creates fresh, original sounding music.

Having been released from prison in 2015, MIST came out with a vision to pursue a music career in his own style and sound. Featuring on the infamous ‘Warm-Up Sessions‘ for SBTV and delivering some other eye dropping freestyles that year, MIST came clean with a new style and it wasn’t long before it was noticed on a wide scale. In September 2016, MIST dropped his first EP MIS to the T which peaked in the U.K. Charts at 75. A rapper from outside of London having such instant success is a rarity, something which the likes of Aitch and Bugzy Malone share with MIST.

Tracks such as ‘Karlas Back’ were receiving daytime BBC Radio playback and instantly his career took off. MIST was snatched up by Warner Records who gave him his own lane to run in under ‘Sickmade Ent.’ which is the dream for many in his situation. The next few years for MIST have featured success after success including hits with Chip and big time producer Steel Banglez. Banglez and MIST both come from a Punjabi background and together played a huge part in bringing elements of music from their culture to a side of grime that mixes afrobeats and dancehall with many other styles, to the limelight. A style which fills every club in the U.K. In MIST’s two EP discography so far, there are already so many huge tracks to take in, but here’s three to get you started.

Ain’t The Same

October 2016, the music video dropped for this track and suddenly, earlier grime videos didn’t seem particularly high budget when compared to this in the debut era of MIST’s career. The track is an early partnering from Steel Banglez and Brum’s finest that really catapulted this style and MIST’s name onto the scene – from what seemed out of nowhere.

So High

Released in July of last year, this was MIST’a highest charting single to date and only Top 10, reaching number 7 in the U.K. Charts. Sampling Toni Braxton, the track has a very catchy chorus which MIST delivers his iconic tone and style over. Fredo is no stranger to the charts either, with another of his link ups reaching Number 1 with Dave. The pair on this track bounce off each other well, resulting in a really enjoyable track.

Savage

One of MIST’s more aggressive recent tunes, the track is exactly what it says in the title. Raw, energetic lyrics over a ‘Present day Tyga’ sounding beat, with another high impact, crazy music video to accompany it. A must listen from his discography, demonstrating a more ruthless side to MIST that we can all enjoy.

With a recent run of singles including the latest, ‘House Party’, another featuring Fredo, it might not be long before we have a full length MIST Project. With everyone still in lockdown in the U.K., just about every rapper is teasing new music that they’re working on. The last mixtape reached number 5 in the album charts in 2018, so a new project may well be on the horizon. Something we can all look forward to.

Yungen, CJ Brooks, grew up in Herne Hill Estate, South London with the dream of being an MC after his older cousin inspired him to do so. Despite showing his gratitude for his upbringing stating, “Growing up on an estate was everything to me” to the Evening Standard, the trauma that some youngsters go through in such areas as this can be life altering. At the age of 16, a death of Yungen’s friend saw a change in Brooks path.

After feeling too shy to really give music a go in the past, artists like Giggs and Wretch 32 inspired Yungen to pursue a childhood dream to the fullest. After the release of his first YouTube video ‘Hometown,’ the channel SB.TV gave him his first shot and thus he delivered his ‘F64 Freestyle’ in 2011. In 2012, Yungen signed with the very recognisable Play Dirty team, run by none other than Krept and Konan, which lead him onto a steady incline in the years to come. Mobo award nominations, mixtape releases, it was all happening and Yungen’s name was popping up everywhere.

For many fans, it wasn’t until a certain beef that Yungen fully made his mark. As mentioned in our previous Across The Pond, Chip was sending shots at just about every artist he could, because he could. Yungen was one of those to stand tall and take the challenge. The whole scene was watching and although Chip came out proving he ‘Can’t run out of bars,’ Yungen came through with two heavy hitting diss tracks, solidifying himself in the game for many.

In recent years, Yungen has been making chart success with a slight change to his sound. The commercialised rebranding from some of his harder hitting tracks of the past like his Project Red and Black era in 2014, saw his first platinum single in the UK, a Top 10 and headline slots at festivals around in the country. Not a bad move to say the least. Yungen is a star in his own right, with no doubt more heights to come and quite the journey in his past. He really is an artist from Across The Pond worth checking out for all his range of styles and catchy tracks, but for now here’s just three to get you started.

Ain’t On Nuttin

The original track was being bumped in every car across the nation, but when names like Stormzy signed up to be on the remix, this track went to whole new levels. A raw taste of UK rap delivered by a younger Yungen; still sounding fresh today.

Comfy

Arguably what Grime would still be sounding like today if Drill hadn’t taken the wheel, this track hits hard. The Garage vibes are still shining through each element of sound design and Yungen raps like he’s in the booth doing a freestyle. The authenticity of this track is what makes it great and you’re guaranteed to want to hear it again.

Bestie

Sitting at 44 million hits on YouTube, this is Yungen’s biggest track to date. A fresh, new sound from Brooks came like it was meant to be, as the new sound of urban music was evolving in the UK. Artist’s like Not3s and MoStack were bringing a new upbeat feel to rap from this side of the pond and this smash hit was a great capitalisation upon it. Catchy.

This week Yungen announced that he was about to release new music in March, so it’s a good time to become a fan as this drop could be any day now. The last project we were graced with was Project Purple, a collaboration between himself and One Acen, last January. Could this be a whole new project or just a single? We will have to wait and see.

King P-Money. One of the true OG’s in Grime. Originally a member of the Fatal Assassins crew and later becoming a founding member of the Lewisham based Grime crew OGz, P is without a doubt one of the hardest and most solid barrers the U.K. has ever had. From Grime clashes with Big H which left his opponent walking off stage in two rounds, to dropping tracks with high profile artists like Giggs, there’s not much P-Money hasn’t done. After first releasing What Did He Say? all the way back in 2008, the traction has been continuous for the Grime legend. If you ever see P-Money on the bill, even as just an MC, you know it’s going to be a great live show. Drum ‘n’ Bass, Grime, Dubstep, House… he can keep going on all of them. He’s truly an artist with as much talent as you can get when it comes to all things lyrics. The vast span of his career has been impressive, but even more so by the fact he’s always stuck to repping Grime. Much like Wiley, (who is pasted all over the headlines right now) he’s always dropped Grime mixtapes even when deviating slightly from the genre in other ventures they’ve taken on. A P-Money track is 3 minutes to capture just how creative and stylistic he can be with his flows and punchlines. You really have to see the live performance to fully appreciate quite how good he is. That being said, here’s just three must-listens.

Where & When

Giggs and P-Money. You may as well just press play from that alone. Over a dark beat, these two sound quite frankly scary, hitting hard with every twist and turn throughout. Giggs is hard to outdo on a track like this, but P Money shines through.

Mistajam 1xtra Freestyle

Just admire the magician at work. 9 minutes of pure energy and stunning lyrical content. Easily one of the best to ever do it and this is just a sample of the greatness. Mistajam queues up beat after beat and P-Money is simply not phased.

Fire In The Booth

Even before he starts his verse, you can feel the hype. You know it’s going to be a classic and it does not disappoint. Charlie’s reaction was shared among the many after this Fire In The Booth, as P-Money took it as an opportunity to set the bar.

One look at this man’s mixtape history and it’s pretty clear to see if one mixtape has come and gone, another is on the way. After dropping Money Over Everyone 3 last year, it will be interesting to see what P does next, as with such vast talent, it could be anything. One things for sure, it will deliver.

Ms Banks. Get to know the name before 2020 because South London’s Bad B is destined to have a huge year. After writing her first bars at the age of 11 and truly focusing on music since 15, Ms Banks (real name Thyra) has gone on to share the stage with some of the biggest acts in the world since shaking up the scene in 2016, where she became a very high in demand feature artist. Late that year she appeared on a track with Stormzy and Tinie Tempah… not a bad slot to find yourself in while on your come up, but it gets better. In April of 2017 she joined Cardi B on stage during her tour and now has a fan in none other than the Queen herself, Nicki Minaj. Nicki has tweeted out lyrics from Ms Banks, commented on her instagram photos and most recently while on Capital Xtra, leaked that the two have a song together staying, “All I’m saying is…when it drops, it drops. It’s amazing. We’ve spoken about it a lot, and a lot of things are happening.” With such an easily identifiable tone and flow, Ms Banks always delivers and makes whatever beat it is her own. Originally writing to downtempo trap beats, her latest album The Coldest Winter Ever 2 features more hints of Afrobeats, whilst still keeping the playful lyrical content she’s known for. The album dropped on 12th December and is definitely worth checking out, but for now, here’s three must-hear tracks.

Bad B Bop

“Step into the dance like a Bad B, ginger bread man couldn’t catch me.” Even on the delivery of the opening line, you can tell this is a Ms Banks tune. With a great video and some cheeky lyrical content over a Iggy ‘Fancy’ type beat, this track is definitely one that makes you want to move. This is the new direction of music it would appear Ms Banks is taking and it’s certainly a crowd-pleaser.

Gun Lean (Remix)

Remember this one? Well Banks found herself on one of the U.K.’s biggest tunes of the year and once again, made it her own. Even the higher pitched singing vocals just add to how hard her verse comes in on top of the iconic Russ beat. Originality on a remix track like this is so important to stand out and Ms B certainly has that.

My Size

Another Across The Pond artist, Ambush, recruited Banks for his own Afrobeats rhythm which is currently blowing up airwaves in the U.K. Neither artist is a stranger to chart success, but the chemistry between these two resonates so naturally, it was bound to do numbers. There’s even a dance competition currently being run for this track, so get your entries in now if that’s your thing!

Having dropped her album so recently, it will be interesting to see what moves Ms Banks makes next year but at the very least, we can all hope to hear this Nicki Minaj collaboration. Perhaps a collaboration project is in the works, it will be very interesting to see as it could be the biggest overseas alliance since Drake and Giggs.

Tottenham bread Avelino is a name you need to get to know. The Congolese London rapper can sing, spit and rhyme better than most could ever dream to. Known for his deep lyrical content, Avelino first came onto the scene with his mixtape Underdog Music in 2013 after previously being known as AA and Bobby Brown, but it wasn’t until 2015 where his name really began to circle. Starting with supporting Stormzy on his tour as he was on his climb to fame, the year was set to be a good one, but on December 18th things really took off. Wretch 32 is a grime OG and had been singing Avelino’s praises but on this day was the release of their joint mixtape Young Fire, Old Flame. Despite barely writing down lyrics when he enters the booth, lyrically, he never fails to deliver incredible wordplay with his iconic tone and this mixtape truly shows that off. Accompanied by what Charlie Sloth describes as the ‘hardest’ Fire In The Booth of all time, the album received an outstanding reception and since then the only way for Avelino has been up. If Stormzy and Wretch 32 weren’t big enough names for you, Avelino found himself collaborating with fellow Tottenham legend Skepta in February 2017 too. Big collaborations are no stranger to this man, there really is no impossibilities for who he could jump on a track with next. You really ought to check out Avelino’s whole discography but here are just three classics.

Fire In The Booth

This is the best FITB, no question. The two stars are poetic over their beats, with emotion pouring into every bar to create an all-around epic performance. Even Charlie Sloth gets too gassed and that seemed impossible before this moment. This is without a doubt some of the best 10 minutes of visual content the UK Rap scene has produced.

So Fine

Collaborating with WSTRN’s Haile, this song almost feels like it came from America, but the second Avelino touches mic it all feels so incredibly natural. He rides this beat effortlessly and the whole track has such a beautifully raw feel to it with catchy lyrics throughout. Haile’s chorus will undoubtedly be looping in your head after a first listen.

Energy

Stormzy & Skepta) - Energy [Official Video]" width="1170" height="658" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/89w_BaoRAmc?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen>

What a line up. You really can’t ask for much more. Part of the Fifa 18 soundtrack, this one made it to BBC Radio 1 playlisting and was absolutely everywhere. The track’s title is exactly what this song is all about; high energy from all three performers. ‘Energy’ really does show the breadth of this man’s style and talents.

At 26, Avelino has already done it all. Collaborations to the highest degree, a Fifa track! What comes next?! Well, up until this week, his last single ‘FACTS’ had come out on the 11th October 2018, over a year ago now, so it was about time he dropped something new. Cue ‘Cassius Clay’, the new single by Avelino and Dave and what a collaboration it is. On BBC Radio 1xtra this week with DJ Target, Avelino said “rapping is a skill…can you rap with the Gods?” and this track shows that he definitely can. Avelino did not come to play with this one, it’s all about the bars. Listen to it a few times and you’ll still be picking up new clever wordplay with each spin, this one is for the lyricists. Notably, a lot of his previous full bodies of work has been dropped for free download, so maybe it’s finally time for a debut album. Whatever happens, we need to hear more.
