Aitch and Arrdee have been compared in the past, with both sets of fans ready to say that their favourite is best. Aitch and Arrdee had other plans though – making bangers. Both artists have been on a phenomenal run as of late, with masses of chart success and their new collab ‘War’ is set to do exactly the same.

When the beat first comes in, it sounds like a tailor-made Arrdee beat. Moments later you hear the horns play their melody which instantly makes you think of Aitch. The intertwined styles make this the perfect beat for both artists to do their thing over, in their own special way. As the beat drops straight into the first chorus, Arrdee’s first bar already has you feeling like it’s going to be a hit. The two go back and forth on the chorus as if they were always a duo, bouncing off each other seamlessly.

The verses however are where both artists really shine. Arrdee delivers a syncopated flow, with rhymes landing in places you don’t expect them. Shutting down haters who say ‘luck got him in the booth,’ he shows why he’s a regular Top 10 Artist. The moment Aitch’s verse starts, already it’s clear he’s here to steal the show. “Arms too long when I lift these reps, hard to moan when you live this blessed,” is just one of the bars that has you screwfacing. He really makes it his own with naughty lyrics and a touch of class that many artists simply don’t have. It just feels right when he raps. A truly brilliant collaboration, which hopefully is just the first of more from this duo.

After the success of Aitch’s debut project, AitcH20, it’s no wonder the young Mancunian star is back with more fire for his ever growing fan base. With a successful tour at the end of last year and similar success in the charts to partner it, Aitch is the man of the moment. AitcH20 had a noticeable sound and style throughout the project, despite it having differing genres and elements throughout, however this new EP has a bit of everything, for everyone.

One of his first singles to land last week from this EP was ‘30’ which is without a doubt, an old-school Grime influenced banger; the sort you’d expect to hear Skepta go bar for bar with his brother JME over. Aitch graces us with his ever so popular northern flavour over the beat effortlessly, a great single all round. The other pre-release single was ‘Raw’, a take on Drill that feels infused with Grime roots again. The percussion on this track keeps the rhythm moving and once again, Aitch spots like it’s his last round to show off in a rap battle he’s already won. The chorus is definitely a more ‘raw’ side to Aitch than we’ve seen before lyrically in terms of content and delivery, seeming aggressive at points.

This EP really does show off Aitch’s skill set in a fantastic display. If you like your grime, Aitch is a true lyricist over tracks like ‘Safe To Say’ and ‘30.’ However if you’re more into Aitch’s take on the Afrobeats-Style of grime that we hear in the U.K. charts so often such as his track ‘Buss Down’ from his original project, then ‘Zombie’ has that bouncy quirkiness that you’re looking for. Polaris is definitely worth your time this week.

In 2013, UK producer and recluse King Krule famously responded that “he wasn’t surprised” that Beyonce liked an early single of his. He was 18. This punk eschewing of public opinion resonates deep in the heart of youth, and almost a decade later, this same spirit is captured in the lyricism of Aitch, a grime figure now contending with his place amid those now embracing him.

His recent single, ‘MICE,’ is a stomping yard big enough for him to walk the familiar lines of boast, but Aitch has an earnest quality in his delivery where you start to sense he doesn’t talk big cheaply. The lines are straight enough, but quick and flicker with a flourish of the self-congratulatory flair.

Like the earlier single ‘Taste (Make it Shake),’ the beat for ‘MICE’ is organic and colorful, welcoming a steady mix of bongos and a sampled flute that is abound with its own share of quirky ticks. It’s a jam on its own and Aitch rides alongside it with impressive control.

It’s a signature move to exercise nonchalance while verbally flexing, but Aitch demonstrates the technical skill to play loose and just sound about as interested in his own success as a student spending an hour in afternoon detention. Still, there are pieces of a puzzle that build who Aitch is – and while he’s leveled with listeners in the past, there’s a sense of increasing honesty in his writing as he brandishes lines reflecting on his youth, his family, and his love life. As he continues his craft, these topics may show through more but ‘MICE’ puts them on the table at least.

Giving this cut a spin in the chills of February would feel right at home in any city’s basement show. But as Aitch continues his trajectory and hopefully drops more, expect this track to make its due waves in the heat of the summer ahead.

When two huge lyricists like Aitch and DigDat pair up, you know it’s going to be a battle of the bars, but the concept behind this track and video brings it to whole new levels. Both artists are renowned for their wordplay, video editing in their Daily Duppy’s alone highlights just how many punchlines each of them can deliver on a track. However, the 8 Mile famous finale battle idea for this video is what makes you really feel like these two creative barrers are going head to head with their verses. A clever idea to let the artists show off at what they’re best at on the right stage for it. On first listen, you’ll pick up some one liners that’ll have you screw-facing from both artists, then even more on the next. This track doesn’t get old and nor does the video. DigDat announced a tour this week which nearly sold out every date in just four hours, and it’s no wonder with this track climbing up the U.K. Single’s chart. He’s looking to get a U.K. top ten album with Ei8ht Mile and a top 10 single with the title track. Make sure to check out the rest of the album and hit play below.

The title says it all. For all the old school grime fans out there, pay attention. This song feels like it should have come out ten years ago, yet feels so fresh. The ever growing household name, Aitch teams up with L Star to bring it back to basics; straight bars. The beat is constantly changing and quickening to double time which makes this song feel all the more brilliantly hectic and raw. With old school flows delivered at high velocity, ‘Back To Bacis’ is a ride from start to finish and both verses hold up the standard of the old school MC Grime legends. An unexpected feature track for Aitch when compared to recent hits like ‘Taste‘, but a needed one nonetheless.

Following the huge success of his recent pre-EP, single release ‘Taste (Make It Shake)’ which reached Number 3 in the U.K. Official Charts, Aitch is back with his second EP and it’s his best work to date. The rising star has had quite the come up in the past year, but even since we touched base on his Across The Pond, the 19 year old has already been a part of his first Number 1 by having the privilege to hop on the official remix of Stormzy and Ed Sheeran’s chart topping hit ‘Take Me Back To London’. The momentum the young rapper has gained makes this a perfect time to put out a body of work and having teamed up with Cypress Break to throw the ‘AitcH20’ Pool Party to launch it, he really must be having the time of his life.

From the get go this EP captures everything we love about the Aitch sound. In the opening verse of the ‘Intro’ he says, “She’s looking at me pissed and I’m a funny little shit, and if she’s got a sweet tooth I’m pouring honey on my…” the exact sort of comical wordplay that can be expected from the Manchester rapper. Throughout the track, the rhyming structure dips and dives all over the place in classic Aitch style, opening the EP with a smile on your face.

The next track ‘What’s Next’ is a completely new feel, that essences vibes of ‘Bet’ by Octavian and Skepta. Aitch himself said “this one is definitely for the shows, 100%” and, even at a first listen, you can picture the crowd goind wild straight away. This track really stands out on a first run through with a catchy chorus and upbeat rhythm that was not necessarily expected to be heard here.

Another track that will catch your attention on a first listen is ‘2 G’s’. Never before could one picture Aitch on a track with Tyga or YG but now it seems more appropriate than ever. Of all the beats on the album this one feels the most American, but Aitch is able to glide across it in his usual laid back tone too easily. This style really suits him and the track is about an interesting topic too. Aitch says “it’s always seemed like bare people around me knew what they wanted me to do already, I was spitting bars and I already knew I was going to blow up but I didn’t know it was going to happen this fast,” but it did and this track is an example of why.

When first seeing the tracklist for AitcH20 the standout feature track is titled ‘Weekday’ which features the iconic MoStack and Steel Banglez Sound. Banglez is a one stop shop if you want a summer feeling, afrobeat-infused hit, which is exactly what this is. Hearing both Aitch and Mostack sing the chorus together was really interesting because of their totally different tones, but it works so well. Make sure it’s warm out when you listen to this one.

All in all, this is a really solid piece of work by Aitch and he deserves every success from it. Ever since his ‘Straight Rhymez 1’ a year ago, he has demonstrated the charisma and talent of a born icon and it’s fantastic to see it all coming together for him. Really do give this EP a listen before you can’t get away from the name, because Aitch is here to stay.

Aitch is officially the youngest artist to feature on our Across The Pond Series, but that doesn’t mean he’s short of talent. Hailing from New Moston in North Manchester, the now 19 year old rapper has reached heights most are still dreaming of hitting, but when someone’s as gifted as this young man, you can’t deny their successes. Having started out like many young UK MC’s, rapping on freestyle videos with their friends from an early age, Aitch quickly stood out from the crowd and was picked up by Machester’s entertainment company Northern Quarterz which led him to releasing his iconic ‘Straight Rhymez’ Freestyle…the rest is history.

Aitch always comes with a unique flow, whether it’s on a remix with other artists, on a freestyle or on a self release; the man comes different with it. He skips and skates on the beat making it look too easy and with such a standout voice, he can’t be missed. The Mancunian is in high demand right now with no way of stopping. Here’s just three videos which highlight the talents of this young artist…

Daily Duppy

Every rapper wants a Daily Duppy to show off their freestyle skills, but this really was the perfect platform for Aitch to deliver. His snappy flow with a mixture of hard hitting and comedic lyrics makes this an all time classic amongst the rest. In his opening phrase he says “I’m not selling drugs but I’m due to wrap rappers up” and he certainly shook up the scene when this dropped. For many this will have been the first they had heard Aitch, with the video being part of a staple series on GRMDaily’s platform and Aitch delivered in every way possible.

Keisha Becky Remix

Charting in the Top 10 in the U.K. this is without a doubt Aitch’s biggest feature to date. The original had dropped and was picking up a lot of traction, but after partnering up with the likes of Jay1, and Swarmz, this track was taken to a whole new level. Alongside some huge names in the scene right now, Aitch’s first bar is arguably the hardest of the whole song and the entire verse follows suit. His distinctive accent and in your face lyrics make him a stand out feature on this remix.

Straight Rhymez

This is where it truly took off for Aitch. So much could be said about this track but the lyrics really do all the talking. It’s obvious from the first section of the freestyle, where Aitch uses the same phonetic rhyme throughout, that this man is here to stay. A young faced Aitch shows that centre stage is completely natural for him and with the video now totalling at over 10 million views, it’s safe to say he’s definitely in the spotlight.

As Aitch prepares for a summer of success, it’s likely we’ll see him start hitting up some of the bigger festivals this year. With support from BBC Radio 1Xtra and other big stations, 2019 will see new heights for the rising talent, that we can be sure of. Having just featured on ‘Strike A Pose’ by Young T & Bugsey last week, with more features appearing to be on the way, it’s clear to see the next chapter for Aitch is just getting started.
