That’s exactly what Akame have done with their newest track titled ‘Drifting Away’ that we are ecstatic to premiere today. Drawing inspiration from the beauty of a fresh blanket of snow, the German duo craft lush ambient soundscapes in their newest track, captivating listeners with the simplicity of properly-orchestrated melodies. It’s not energetic or overbearing yet still retains a catchy beat that can be looped for hours on end. Easy on the ears and skilfully produced, ‘Drifting Away’ proves that the future is bright for Akame.

“We tried to create a light and happy atmosphere, followed by a dark and mysterious ending which symbolizes
the arising blizzard in the distance,” state Akame about their latest. The sombre elements added at the end create just enough intrigue to leave listeners wanting more. Until then, get lost in the elegance of ‘Drifting Away.’

A track that has a “make it pop” vocal shining as the centrepiece, we were curious to know if the track was built around this sample. “A big inspiration for this song was ‘Ground’ by ISOxo, and we wanted to focus on the vocals in this track. All synths were designed around the vocals,” state the duo about their songwriting process.

Gradually building from an ethereal introduction before a repeated sample and punchy percussion is added to propel the energy of the track, Akame aptly set the stage for what follows. As the tension increases to its climax, a wonky stab brings about a jarring bass lead that pierces through your eardrum like a serrated blade. A perfect fit for sending a club crowd into a frenzy, ‘Make It Pop’ is an epic end to the Beyond The Grave compilation, boasting a second drop that is even more perplexing than the first. “Our last releases were more melodic and chill, so we pushed ourselves to make the hardest track we could produce.
