Setting off the tone of the album with a cinematic approach and reimagining a world where ALRT is the driver of this journey, the ‘Multiplicity – Intro,’  is the perfect start to the album. Followed by ‘Familia,’  which is fueled by ALRT’s innovation to push his club-ready sound forward with a taste of bass house. Going even further into the beauty of bass house, one of my personal favorites is ‘New Hype.’  As frequencies erupt and high-pitched instrumentals flow immaculately with those basslines, this one is definitely going to be rinsed at festivals across the globe. Moving into another electrifying tune known as ‘Run It Up,’  the hard-hitting vocals and alarms bring listeners into a clean bass house melody which we cannot get enough of. A few other call-outs from the album include ‘Make You Move’  and ‘Too Hot’ which immediately provide listeners a beautiful tech-house remedy. With ALRT providing he is the true mastermind when it comes down to producing any genre he puts his heart and soul into, this album truly has several heaters to satisfy any music lover.

The ensemble of tracks that comprise ORIGIN are not entirely new – works such as ‘All The Night,’ ‘My Level’ and ‘Vanity’ were born at the inception of the ALRT project back in 2018. That’s what makes ORIGIN special, though. It’s a story of ALRT’s discography told through one cohesive body of work, where listeners get to experience the evolution and versatility of the artist in one sitting. Fans of the artist are well aware of his ability to blend genres together, using influence from hard dance, dubstep, old-school rave and much more in many of his tracks. ORIGIN is the embodiment of this talent, as the project boasts the signature sound that ALRT has carved throughout the years, yet it never lacks ingenuity or liveliness. ‘POPPIN” is but one of the many examples and standouts that push the word genre to new limits, where trap and Jersey club meet to create a festival-ready anthem. Each piece contributes something unique to the collection, and each is sure to get you moving.

The track starts off with a calm synth and delicate woodwind sounds, which are quickly upended by a hard trap beat that pulls the listener in. The song then builds, and vocals that repeat the phrase “Poppin It” slowly edges into the forefront of the song, ushering in a drop that is tinged with 90’s nostalgia and youthful energy, a climax of rhythm that feels endless.

ALRT also cites that most of his inspiration “lies within the ’90s core culture” of the electronic dance music scene. This latest release seems evident of that, with synths that feel reminiscent of squelchy sounds of old synthesizers, and a white noise house beat at the beginning of the second drop. 

The song continues to build on this energy, with sleek vocal chops atop crisp, biting snares that command attention. The energy seemingly feels endless, with even the brief repose in between drops carrying immense weight and anticipation. Finally, at the final drop and climax, the song ends on a singular, lofty, flute sound. This is an introspective and reflective end to the nostalgic rampage of the rest of the track. Listeners are sure to be left with this calm, an adventure well explored, and excitement about what’s coming next. With an already storied career, it seems that ALRT only continues to impress with his craft and inventive production, and whatever is “coming next” is sure to be more than memorable

Ghastly revealed through his Instagram that his laptop had been destroyed and in turn, eight months worth of hard work was lost.
