#tbt – Aryay – R You Ok

While you might not have missed today’s track per se, it’s quite likely you forgot about it. Released on OWSLA in 2015 as part of his Vicious EP, Aryay’s ‘R You Ok’ is easily one of the most memorable tracks the American producer has made. After coming across it again recently, I knew I had to bring it back.

The first time I heard this track, I was so blown away that I literally listened to it on repeat for the entire day, never growing tired of it. Everything from the slow build up with an unmatched rise in tension to the flawless sound effects and orchestral soundscape in the introduction set the scene for a masterpiece. This long – but not drawn out – portion of the track is met by a future bass drop unlike any other. Impeccable production highlighted by ethereal synths and mind-warping pitch bends make the wait worthwhile. The outro is just as powerful as the intro, with Aryay flexing his musical talents in the form of an emotional piano solo. Peep it below.

Since his Vicious EP, Aryay has remained relatively quiet in terms of productions under this alias. Nonetheless, the few singles such as 2016’s ‘Never Gonna Leave’ and 2017’s ‘Always Wanted You’ have further displayed Aryay’s Midas touch. Although he has not released a track as Aryay this calendar year, he has continued to produce for artists such as Poppy, Anjulie, and more. Here’s to hoping there are more solo releases from the talented artist in the near future!

Aryay Brings The Feels On ‘Deja Vu’ Rework

Post Malone and Justin Bieber’s ‘Deja Vu’ is a hit. Easily one of the standouts from Stoney, the original packed a low-key party vibe that was crazy addictive. Nearly a year after the original’s release comes a smooth remix from Aryay. His rendition is more stripped down and seductive. If the original is an afternoon pool party, this is post-party afternoon delight. This is hazy bedrooms with silk sheets and “panties on the dresser.” Add in the way Aryay bends and stretches the vocals and this is beyond dreamy. Listen below.

Raury – God’s Whisper (Flosstradamus & Aryay Remix)

Raury has been having a massive year since the release of ‘God’s Whisper’. In six short months the Atlanta native has dropped an impressive debut mixtape Indigo Child, built a strong following and was whisked away to meet and vibe out with Kanye West. Needless to say Raury has been getting some serious attention. When I saw that Flosstradamus and Aryay had remixed his work I was surprised, excited and truthfully not sure what to expect. Not to worry, the producers absolutely killed the rework, creating a remix that is heavenly, addictive and rich with feels. The intro follows a minimalist approach allowing Raury’s singing to set the stage. As the hook comes in the track builds toward an epic synthed out drop with perfectly layered vocals. Floss labeled this track as ‘Gospel Trap’ and one listen makes it a hard label to dispute. Stream and free download below.
