Kicking off with the newest single by barnacle boi, ‘KNOW Ü’, our Wave Monthly playlist offers the usual dive into the best in wave, hardwave, phonk, and everything in between.  We have a gritty edit of ‘Baby again..’ by hyperforms and more flips and remixes from obey, haydys, deadcrow, and MYSTYK.  For the more soft-hearted, there are plenty of vocal and instrumental ballads such as niburu’s ‘TOGETHER’ , etsu’s ‘Continuum’ or TYLER BREAKS’ ‘angel’. For the lovers of hardwave or stumping phonk-inspired beats, KTrek, KYLLER, kim & limedisx, FATE, Bafu, SBU & MRKRYL and DRIVERAVE got you covered. There’s even space for a couple of liquid drum&bass and jungle crossovers to cap off the playlist.  For the first time since the beginning of the year there’s no Juche music, but only because his two new tracks weren’t uploaded on SoundCloud. There was no shortage of major releases that raised the OG sound to new heights, but at the same time there was no lack of artists venturing into largely virgin territories where they mixed the wave approach with drum&bass, trance, house, planting the seeds for a promising future for the movement. To be remembered in the same way as its predecessor, 2024 will have to hold no small surprises in store for us. For the time being, I believe the premises are there. On my side, to help you keep track of all the music to be released in the next eleven months, I will compile a monthly summary with the best releases, here on FUXWITHIT.

Easier said than done. If the next months are anything like February,  this will be one hell of a journey. To make amends for missing the January issue, I’m doubling down this month, but still, where can I start? cali.xo released her long-awaited EP ‘cry‘ at the beginning of the month, a suggestive project that alone would fill this list. Then Juche decided to show us no mercy, delivering one new release per week (one better than the others, of course), forcing me to make choices I didn’t want to make. He’s not alone though. Heimanu, Nick Neutronz, vowl, Kareful, Enjoii, Øtherside., all published multiple tracks this month as well. Then there’s Static Angel, who gifted us with one of her classic euphoric pieces, obey who went on remix duties on skeler’s ‘my fight‘,  KENOK who managed to squeeze hardware, breaks and trance in a single track and MitroWave who dived into electroclash territories with his latest EP. And that’s not all.

‘Inner Void’ comes as a slow-paced, five-minute (a brave choice in these times) sonic tale that cuddles our ears without being stale or boring. While embodying the stereotypical dense and hypnotic wave flow, the punching and crispy drums prevent us from completely abandoning ourselves to an oniric trip. Like tiny electrical shocks, the kick, the hi-hats, and the snare tease us, keeping our minds on the thin line between reality and dreams. A state where consciousness and subconscious overlap, past and future are flattened on the same level and emotions return to a primordial stage.

“The way [tearsofmine] is able to inject emotion into music is inspiring to say the least. I was sitting on the original demo for “Inner Void” for a bit and so happy to have collabed with John on it because he breathed a new life into it that I just didn’t see before.”  Bafu tells us.

Talking about the genesis of the song, tearsofmine adds, “when he came to me with an already brilliant idea, I was ecstatic. So I wanted to incorporate my vision and techniques to compliment his, while still maintaining and honoring the original idea as a whole”.

‘Inner Void’ indeed sounds like the perfectly balanced contact point between the different sensibilities of the two artists, whom I hope to see working together again in the future, maybe for an ‘Inner Void’ part two.

Making huge moves throughout the industry over time while having the utmost respect for one another.
