Less than a week ago I had never heard of Boaz. But with the release of ‘Don’t Know’ with Mac Miller on Thursday and this stellar remix featuring Termanology, Oddisee, and Vinny Radio it’s time to take notice. On ‘Like This’ each rapper drops some gems but Oddisee really steals the show. Coming through with more ferocity than usual, the Maryland emcee drops a fire verse with a little jab at up-and-comer ILoveMakonnen, “I’m busy like really, not busy like I be going out on a Tuesday, that’s record in the booth day, the next day might as well be Wilkes Booth day…” The title is fitting as this perfectly captures that classic East Coast feel. Hip-hop heads will have this on repeat.

Boaz – Don’t Know feat. Mac Miller

Too much money on my mind. Now to be fair, I’ve never actually listened to a full Boaz track – but the Mac Miller feature got me to tune in. The feature makes sense, Boaz is signed to Rostrum Records which was Mac’s previous home. The indie label and management company worked wonders with Miller’s career and even though they split earlier this year Mac stated that they would “always work together”. Well, we’re glad that’s the case. Boaz drops some cool bars over this attention grabbing beat and he crafts a pretty catchy hook to keep the crowd buzzing but the highlight is Mac Miller’s verse. Though he’s been kind of silent lately, Miller kills his verse with a flow and tempo switch halfway through. You can judge for yourself – press play below. Boaz’s ‘Intuition’ drops on the 21st, cop it if you fux.
