It’s time for everyone to get familiar with borny. We’ve been following the Norway-based artist for almost three years now, and with every track he appears to level up his game. FUXWITHIT was born during the golden era of SoundCloud, where stars such as Mr. Carmack, UZ, and TroyBoi have flourished into household names, and our audience has grown with them. borny is bringing that same energy but with a modern flair, and any fan of the aforementioned legends should hop on the Norwegian trap train.

Today, we have the pleasure of premiering borny’s latest: a track titled ‘Charged’ that is sure to fuel your adrenaline. Speaking about ‘Charged,’ borny states, “I first started the track early March after a binge-listening session of all the early Mr. Carmack and Losco tracks on SoundCloud. I wanted to try something similar tempo-wise. I found a vocal sample that I edited, and pretty much looped it throughout the entire track with variations for every section. Drums, bass, and percussion were implemented after.”

borny wastes no time getting to the meat of the track. After a dozen seconds of brief introductory effects, the artist jumps right into the drop which features a looping sample, punchy percussion, and rugged bass. In the second half, borny adds more diversity to the drop, peppering in some added swagger in the form of swiping synths. The influence from the early days of SoundCloud is ever-present in ‘Charged,’ yet borny finds a way to keep it styling and fresh. Listen below and on your favorite platform. Don’t miss the free download too.

08.25.22. It’s finally here and that means our debut compilation Champions Of The Underground – Vol. 1 has officially arrived. The project showcases the best the underground has to offer while highlighting FUXWITHIT’s signature sound. Stacked from start to finish, the compilation sees Golden Child, Haan808, L*o*J, dope, and sebjin making their return to our label while showcasing a wide range of fresh talents including KUREI, PRYZMS, Dropwizz, Lenny x SL!DE, Galazy x BAGG, Gurf, Borny, Kazantzakis Hontis and Zodiaque. The large majority of the artists have been mainstays on our site for years and it’s an absolute honor to have every artist on board. True to the curation reputation we’ve built for years, the compilation spans a wide array of hip-hop-influenced electronic music from bass to future beats, DnB, and of course trap. We’ve got hard-hitting bangers, gritty heaters, chill vibes, and beautiful bops.

The project opens with Golden Child & Kazantzakis coming together for ‘Elevated.’ The swing, vocals, and synths pull you in while precise percussion and booming bass set the tone for what’s to come. It’s an addictive tune that you’ll have stuck on repeat. PRYZMS takes the energy to the next level with the heart-racing ‘Back2Tha’. The track practically defines what high-octane trap music sounds like in 2022. ‘Quartz’ slow things down with a spell-binding slapper that’s the pinnacle of less is more. OG trap fans are going to lose it for KUREI‘s latest.

Halifax duo dope come through with the aptly titled ‘Hypnotic’ which fuses entrancing vocals with brutish bass and a mean hip-hop swagger. Next up DROPWIZZ takes listeners to the battlefield with the fierce ‘Gulag,’ a bass-heavy heater inspired by your favourite first-person shooter. Take a break from battle and uncover Lenny and SL!DE‘S ‘Oasis,’ an exotic tribal trap smash. Looking for some bounce? You know BAGG and GALAZY have you covered with ‘Repeat.’ Building off this dynamic but with its own distinct flavour comes ‘Big Pizzo’ from Gurf. The track explores his recent future beat sound with a twist of the Partica “Trap2” swagger.

Providing the perfect shift into the more melodic back half of the compilation Haan808‘s ‘Main Phase’ brings the feels with laidback energy that still bumps. Norway’s Borny blesses us with a heavenly future beat banger that’s fittingly titled ‘Skywalker.’ The shimmering synths and uplifting bounce will have you moonwalking in the clouds. The project’s biggest surprise comes from none other than L*o*J. The duo has become renowned for their experimental and heavy approach to bass music. ‘Sunken’ is their softest and most stunning work to date. A beautiful bop that feels like summer love.

As the project nears its close we drift into more cinematic territory. sebjin‘s ‘Rights’ leverages his signature sound providing an immersive futuristic soundscape that’s yours to explore. Hontis & Zodiaque deliver a finale that is nothing short of epic. The slow-burning ‘Extinguish’ opens like a movie score, rich with emotion that deepens with each passing bar. With over two minutes of carefully crafted tension building, the release in the drop is monumental. The track packs a near-spiritual experience while maintaining a sense of ferocity.

Champions Of The Underground – Vol. 1 proves the underground is and always will be the most exciting space in music and art. The future is here. Stream Champions Of The Underground – Vol. 1 and be sure to grab the free download.

A few months back I stumbled upon borny‘s SoundCloud and was completely amazed. His sound possesses a captivating yet knocking aesthetic that can be likened to artists like capshun, DILIP, thook and olswel. With just under 600 followers, the Norwegian producer is one of our greatest under-the-radar finds of 2020. One word song titles like ‘found’ and ‘quantum’ leave much to imagination, and to be honest, it’s best that way. The music speaks for itself in volumes, creating immersive sonic worlds for listeners to explore at their leisure. His latest auditory journey is entitled ‘reach’ and today we have the pleasure of premiering it.

I usually never name my tracks after anything specific – it is 9 out of 10 times random – but the title ‘reach’ is kind of a description on how I evolved in music this year, in the sense that I personally feel like I finally reached the state of being confident in my music. The ongoing pandemic gave me a lot of extra time to explore different sounds, styles and structures, but it also, in a way, gave me a sense of direction on how I think my style will continue to evolve. That is what 2021 will be all about, I think. – borny

Giving borny more time to create truly has been a blessing out of a difficult year as his talents level up for ‘reach.’ Each bar in the intro adds a layer of mystique and interest, slowly making you lean in closer. The first drop is pure bounce with gritty bass, rich plucks and an exotic air. Bent and looped rap vocals serve as bridge before borny smooths things out for a silky second drop. The back half presents a more minimalist sound without sacrificing any knock. Blurring the lines between trap, future beats and lush wordly sounds, borny amazes us once again with ‘reach.’

As September comes to a close Focus Five returns with yet another installment. This month we’ve got a rising talent from Chicago, the finest Norwegian trap you’ve ever heard, two Aussies delivering unique sounds, and yet another Portland-based bass producer you need to know. Dive in below.

aviate

aviate is a fitting name for a producer ascending the ranks of the underground. The Chicago-based producer is part of Suburbia Collective alongside FUXWITHIT favourite LYNY. Unsurprisingly, he first landed on our radar with his Kelis flipping, LYNY collab ‘DIAMONDS.’ Fusing cartoony samples, nostalgic hip-hop and trunk pounding trap, it’s simply irresistible. In the past few months he’s proved to be consistent with a bouncy ‘G6’ flip and slapping collabs with RAFTYR and drak x llewop. If you love that pure uncut SoundCloud trap sound, you better hop on a flight with aviate.

borny

When I stumbled onto borny’s profile I saw 3 things: he had just over 400 followers, he was from Norway and every track was tagged as trap. My initial thought was Norwegian trap? Ooh, this could be interesting… Fittingly ‘found’ was the first track I pressed played upon and had my hopeful expectations exceeded. What began as a foggy downtempo intro quickly morphed before my eyes. Rap adlibs, spacy synths, pounding percussion and exotic woodwinds mingled amidst a gritty drop that was beautifully disorienting. Proving to be no fluke, every one of borny’s five releases this year posses the same incredibly captivating yet banging aesthetic. I’m often impressed but seldom this blown away off one listen through an artist’s SoundCloud spotlight. borny is everything I want from trap right now.

ethanplus

You know that you’re onto something when your editor answers back, “now this is what I’m talking about!” after you sent in some tunes. I don’t know you, but personally I find the idea of both of us jamming on the same song at 6000 kilometers away incredibly satisfying. To be completely honest, I think that ethanplus could make you move even if you’re asleep. His music has that plus (pun intended) that knows how to stimulate your brain. All the three songs he has released so far are absolute slappers. Four minutes and eleven seconds (plus one other on his side account ethanplusPLUS) of beats full of flavors and fantasy. Take ‘2charged’ for example. One moment you’re enjoying a trap banger, you blink your eyes, and some weird flute sample and a jazz piano have appeared out of nowhere. We don’t have much info about ethanplus, but here at FUXWITHIT we are all very curious to see what’s coming next! Oh, and maybe you’ll find it interesting that among his 145 followers you can count Four Color Zack, Milano, camoufly and the legendary ‘The Inbox’ curator Peach Gallagher.

LANKI

Don’t let LANKI‘s moniker fool you – this man’s tunes are thick and meaty. First appearing on my radar in late 2018 as a result of his collaboration with Leotrix on Buygore, it wasn’t until their second collaboration on Never Say Die: Black Label titled ‘Make Death’ that I really started paying attention to the Sydney-based producer’s talents. More recently, LANKI has been putting out unique pieces that showcase the artist’s ingenuity when it comes to concocting bass brutes, teetering the lines between dubstep, trap, and experimental bass, with ‘WAX’ being a prime example. Hot off a massive collaboration with Jon Casey on Vision Recordings’ MISSION 01 compilation, few appear to have a future brighter than LANKI. Stop sleeping, and dive into his short yet impressive repertoire.

tsou

Portland’s tsou has persistently challenged his production capabilities over the course of the past 3 years, carving a unique niche in the realm of leftfield bass with an inexplicable talent in establishing a palatable groove and cadence within each release, despite the diversity in energy that each track might contain. The recently released broken hearts anonymous EP further exemplifies tsou’s dexterity, composing an emotional sonic narrative that ranges from gripping halftime melodies in ‘old soul’ and ‘tribe’ to the experimental tempos of ‘promise II’ and ‘mental’. With a continually growing repertoire of original compositions, remixes, edits, and collaborations, tsou is shaping up to have a remarkable future career.
