In an oversaturated market of cookie-cutter bass producers, we find a diamond in the rough with Chef Boyarbeatz. The Los Angeles-based beatmaker has continued to differentiate himself, bringing his fresh perspective on the genre through his omnifarious, worldly sound influences. For his newest release, Chef Boyarbeatz drops ‘Professional Fuckup’ on East Coast underground bass label, Wavecraft Collective.

In ‘Professional Fuckup,’ the producer amalgamates future garage and 140 into one cohesive and unique bass tune that still sounds like classic Chef B. And while both of these genres have been making their way into the mainstream in recent months, he actually started the track around two years ago, finishing it up back in February 2020. “I wrote ‘Professional Fuckup’ after a failed relationship and was feeling all the emotions of fucking things up over and over. I tried to incorporate that nostalgic vibe with my classic bassline and breaks,” he tells FUXWITHIT.

Starting with a soft and staticy percussive build, Chef Boyarbeatz utilizes the drums to create tension and make way for evocative, atmospheric keys. The claviers foreshadow the first dynamic garage drop only to develop harmoniously into the track’s 140 portion. A vocal sample breaks it up, leading way to Chef’s signature bass sound from 2:20 to completion.

When you delve into the artist’s discography, you’ll come to find that the bopsmith always finds ways to evolve his sound. And ‘Professional Fuckup’ is a prime example of just what he can do in only a little over 4 minutes. Listen to it below and see if he’ll be in a city near you soon by following him on socials.

Hope you’re hungry, because the alien chef serving intergalactic beatz is back with a fresh meal! Chef Boyarbeatz just dropped the CONSUME EP, which is out now on Space Yacht. The 2-track project may be short, but it’s incredibly spicy, showing us the LA producer’s vast versatility in all of 8 minutes.

After taking the bass scene by storm in 2019 and playing on huge stages like Space Yacht and Nocturnal Wonderland, it seems the beatmaker hasn’t slowed down at all. Earlier this year, Chef Boyarbeatz released music on Bassrush, MAD ZOO, and Elastic Rhythms. The CONSUME EP is just another incredible addition to his growing discography.

‘Takin’ L’s’ gives off hella old-school hip-hop vibes. It starts off with a soothing guitar intro and smooth bars from Stickyfingaz before transitioning into a wonky bass break. By the second verse, both genres are intertwined, creating something super unique and captivating. The EP’s title track, ‘CONSUME,’ is more of what you’d expect from a bass song, but it’s not the least bit generic. From the moment you press play, you’ll be taken on an interdimensional expedition that’ll ravage the cranium and have you wondering what your name is by the end. Throughout the song, you’ll hear raggae samples, keeping up the momentum from the record’s first track.

After listening to the EP a few times, I could tell see his passion for crate-digging rings true. And as a fellow vinyl lover, I’m excited to see what Chef Boyarbeatz will do next. His ability to blended old and new sounds seamlessly and skillfully definitely makes him one to keep our eye on.

Listen to Chef Boyarbeatz’s CONSUME EP below.

There’s no question that the underground trap scene is flourishing right now. One of the names that we’ve been keeping an extra keen eye on is L.A. native Chef Boyarbeatz. Over the past four years, this beat crafter has developed a unique sound. The Chef’s discography is filled with tracks with an equally heavy emphasis on drums and sound design. If that’s not enough to get you excited, the young beat wizard had a release on one of bass music’s flagship labels earlier this year with ‘deep space OG’ on Bassrush. This time Chef Boyarbeatz returns with his new single ‘The Mandala Effect,’ out on Elastic Rhythms.

Beginning with an eerie sample selection, the first 10 seconds set the stage for what is to become this high-energy journey. Soon after the intro, the drums are brought in for a quick build-up before dropping us into this bubbly trap wonderland filled with a myriad of samples and off-the-wall sound design. The track soon evolves to adopt some jungle flows in the breaks before a full-on jungle section takes over. After another build, we’re met with this wild half-time switch up that serves as the perfect epilogue for our journey. Make sure to stream the whole thing down below!

Now revealing the first chapter of a novel new compilation, The Prophecy: Vol. 1 works as a synopsis of Bassrush’s talent, composing 11-unique tracks including a long-anticipated collaborative gauntlet between sfam, G-Space, & Mystic Grizzly, as well as tunes from the likes of Esseks, Shanghai Doom, Abelation, FRQ NCY, and ECRAZE.

Encompassing the many eclectic sub-genres that bass has to offer, this new Bassrush Compilation is not one to miss. Be sure to check out The Prophecy: Vol. 1 out now below!
