What if a track is so tight you have to remix twice? Apparently this is the case with Flume’s ‘Left Alone’. Back in 2013 Ta-ku put his own spin on the fellow Australian’s tune. It looks like that wasn’t enough as Ta-ku connects with Gravez for the re-remix (yes you read that correctly). The downtempo tribal sounds are reinforced with thumping percussion and some trunk rattling bass. The sprinkling of Kendrick Lamar and other trapped out samples add a further dimension of grittiness. Chet Faker x GoldLink – On You

I’m not going to lie, I’ve been sleeping on Chet Faker and GoldLink. I’ve heard a lot about both artists over the past few months but never took the time to take them in (I know, and I call myself a music blogger?). Anyway that’s about to change as their latest collaboration has opened my eyes to the talent of both artists. Chet Faker crafts a stunning backdrop that is hard hitting and absurdly smooth. His vocals are beautiful and infectious (don’t blame me if this is stuck in your head all day). GoldLink comes in right on time, warming things up with sung vocals before breaking into pure raps that standout but also fit right in. A final piece I have to mention is the minimalistic breakdown in the middle of the song that takes it to the next level. The song was recorded for www.songsfromscrat.ch/ a collaborative project between Yours Trulys & adidas originals. Stream the track and check out the behind the scenes video below.
