An accomplished beatsmith, masterful composer, and enthusiast of the dark cusp of granular synthesis, Portland-resident Noer the Boy is as elliptical in nature as the shadowy, vaporous soundscapes that he produces. Loyal to DJ Shadow’s Liquid Amber imprint, Courteous Family out of Los Angeles, NOISIA’s DIVISION, and SATURATERECORDS Noer the Boy’s production versatility and vividly experimental predisposition enables him the ability to create intuitively within an assortment of conditions.

Selected from his newly released Forlorn Hope LP, ‘Exile’ perceptibly reveals the untapped beauty that exists within dark places. An eerie whirring tapers exquisitely into an ominous, nearly imperceptible, steely melody. As your attention is diverted, fumbling to comprehend the distant, fragmented chorus, a thick palpable deluge of bass materializes, engulfing your immediate sensory peripherals. A brief moment of solace is afforded at timed intervals throughout the track, which work to cleanse the palette, as each newly divulged vein of the track dives deeper into a yawning abyss of granular bass.

Be sure to check out ‘Exile’ from Noer the Boy’s Forlorn Hope LP, out now via Courteous Family below!

Locked in the depths of his studio for the last several months, Hapa has been hard at work on his debut album. The fruits of his efforts were finally becoming apparent last month as he slowly rolled out a couple of singles from the piece, keeping his fans intrigued and excited for the full project. As the gnarly yet groovy ‘Chrome‘ featuring Dayle and the bouncy house ‘Liquid Legs‘ came to light, many started noticing that Memory Screen was going to be an album unlike any other.

Already earning praise from the likes of Chee, Tsuruda, Noer the Boy and many more, Memory Screen is an intense journey into the future of experimental bass music. Exploring everything from trap to house without ever letting go of his neuro signature, Hapa has created a thirteen-piece project that is worthy of awards. Tracks such as ‘Float’ with Jon Casey and Aedfx and ‘Nine’ with Great Dane display Hapa’s incredible ability to work with others and blend different styles and sounds flawlessly. On the other hand, the LA-based talent flexes his masterful, solo production skills in songs such as ‘Phntm,’ ‘Worms’ and ‘Shkuurrrrp.’ Leaving listeners breathless with his versatility, energy and innate aptitude of sprinkling filthy wobbles in just about every type of track, Hapa has gone beyond expectations with Memory Screen.

Hapa’s debut album requires a full listen-through to appreciate its full potency and complexity. Check it out below.
