Crankdat is an artist of many talents. From designing his own artwork to crafting his very own live show visuals, this Ohio-based producer does not only perfect his signature bass-driven sound but tends to think outside the box when it comes to envisioning an immersive experience for his listeners. Always one step ahead in the production game, Crankdat has joined forces with the mysterious producer void (0) to get it ‘Poppin’ on the dance-floor.

Fueling the track with energetic vocals and a wonky instrumental undertone, you already know these two producers are about to go off with this one. With metal-wrenching drops and unexpected frequencies, listeners are taken through the filthiness of dubstep with shifts of fast-moving madness. Progressing through hard-hitting vocal chops and intensified bass-lines, this energy fueled collaboration is one for the books.

Now for all those trying to get a little weird in quarantine, Crankdat and void (0) also dropped a VIP mix of the original which is a personal favourite. These producers keep the original elements in tact, however flawlessly execute their enhanced sound design by including a balance of distortion and amplified vocals at a slow-tempo pace. There is no deny the drop is highly contagious when it hits the speakers. Showcasing his dedication to transform the world of dubstep and bass music, Crankdat is clearly a force to watch out for this year.

Earlier this year, NGHTMRE and A$AP Ferg teamed up to give us one of the best crossover tracks released in a long time. Since then the North Carolina native has given us his grimy trap VIP to ‘Redlight,’ as well as the trap lord himself, Flosstradamus, delivering his take on ‘Redliight’.

Through Ultra Music, NGHTMRE just gifted us with three more remixes of ‘Redlight,’ featuring the wildly innovative bass producer Effin, the ingenious London bass house producer Holy Goof, and one dubstep’s biggest trendsetters Crankdat.

Effin is up first with his nasty iteration of ‘Redlight’ where he reminds us why he is truly one of the best acts coming out of LA. To start the track off, Effin reinvents A$AP Ferg’s verse, trading the 808 heavy trap beat, for high pitch industrial synths that carries the verse throughout the first third of the track. Here we’re met by top-notch sound design along with an impeccable mix-down which truly turns claps into slaps.

Next up, Holy Goof turns up the tempo with his masterful bass house take on ‘Redlight’. Right from the get go we are introduced to the pounding baseline which carries the track throughout. As we approach the one minute mark Holy Goof injects new energy into the track when the main melody takes center stage, being played by grimy synths.

Last but most definitely not least, we have Crankdats powerful dubstep rework of ‘Redlight’. The intro leads with a minimal trap beat which carries the verse, during which Crankdat teases us with his insane mechanical sounding synths. As we approach the end of this section, we are thrusted into a true sound factory, filled with menacing basslines and truly original sound design. These remixes have given new life to already elite song, check these out below!

Crankdat doesn’t really need an introduction. After storming onto the scene with his infectious remix for Fetty Wap’s ‘Trap Queen’ over three years ago, the young yet talented producer has not looked back. The quality, quantity and consistency of his releases is truly unmatched, switching from singles to remixes and from future bass to dubstep and drum & bass unlike anyone else. You’d truly be hard-pressed to find a genre that Christian Smith hasn’t dived into yet.

Crankdat’s famous remixes, dubbed “re-cranks,” have been less frequent as of late, with Smith stating “my goal for 2018 was to begin artistically defining myself with my original music.” While he has successfully done just that, we’re excited to share not one, not two, but three new re-cranks from the versatile producer today. Taking on Travis Scott’s legendary ASTROWORLD, Crankdat has delivered fans “3 songs from one body of work, but 3 very different vibes.”

Monday saw Smith flipping ‘NO BYSTANDERS’ into an almost unrecognizable remix, but in the best way possible. Only keeping the vocals from the original, Crankdat transforms ‘NO BYSTANDERS’ into an epic multi-genre track, exploring a gnarly, riddim-inspired first drop, before taking listeners on a wild psy-trance journey in the second half. The artistic genius is on full display here, as he somehow combines these two very different genres into a cohesive banger.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/514756119″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”300″ iframe=”true” /]

On Tuesday, Crankdat took a spin at the album’s biggest track, ‘SICKO MODE’. Only incorporating the vocals once again (and even sampling ‘Goosebumps’), Crankdat continues his theme by turning the original into another multi-genre heater. A bass-heavy first drop that screams re-crank is further intensified after a short bridge, with crisp screeches echoing over punchy percussion. A complete change in pace is met by a super upbeat, fresh future bass second half that almost seems out of place, but Crankdat once again manages to blend the two masterfully.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/515192688″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”300″ iframe=”true” /]

Today’s final take on ASTROWORLD sees Crankdat tackling ‘WAKE UP.’ Keeping more elements from the original track than his previous two remixes, Smith takes The Weeknd and Travis Scott’s powerful vocals and ups the energy around the song’s melodies. Although his least bass-heavy remix of the three, you can feel the emotion Crankdat poured into this euphoric future bass anthem. What a way to close out three wicked remixes.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/515781036″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”300″ iframe=”true” /]
