Craze & Matsu are back with a new collaborative project and their debut track under the new moniker Omicasa. The pair have a longstanding creative relationship both with Slow Roast Records and musically so it’s only natural to see them come together to form a new duo. “We’re always working together on music in some capacity, whether that’s helping each other with writing, engineering, artwork or whatever else. So when we get in the studio together, it’s a natural extension of our collaborative relationship. We did a couple tracks together while on the road, but ‘Come on Dawg’ came together at Craze’s studio in Miami. We were listening to a bunch of Switch and Chris Lake and got inspired…we sat down and the rest is history. Crazy synths, the boosie sample, and hard-hitting drums…this track is exactly what we intended it to be. When it was done, we felt like it was such a unique track that it needed to be released under a new project name, not just as “Craze & Matsu.” So, Omicasa was born!” Matsu tells us.

The project name was born out of a trip to an Omakase Korean BBQ restaurant in Miami where they were bumping ‘Come On Dawg’ on repeat. “Omicasa is a play on the Japanese word “omakase,” which literally translates to “I leave it up to you.” But it’s usually in the context of a meal when the chef curates every course and you “leave it up to them” to decide. On the Spanish side, “Mi Casa” means “my house.” There’s the play on “house music” but also…it’s like you’re stepping into our house when you come to us. You’re in our house, so leave it up to us what we give you. We’re not doing this to follow trends or make things that “work,” we want to make tracks that are unique and show who we are,” they explain. The name also represents a fusion of their roots as Matsu is half Japanese and Craze is Latino.

‘Come On Dawg’ isn’t quite what you’d expect from the pair but that’s part of what makes it so fun. It’s a dizzying house record that reminds me of my early days listening to electro house while still packing a modern sensibility. The lead is absolutely bonkers, creating a trippy and fun-filled energy while hard-hitting drums and rich bass round out the sound. The subtle samples from the rap pre-drop vocals to the chopped and stuttered female vocals add a layer of depth and swagger to this dancefloor heater. This one is assured to get the party loose.

‘Come On Dawg’ is just a taste of what we want to do with Omicasa. We have tons more music in the works, dark, hard hitting dance music. We don’t want to limit ourselves to a specific genre though. This is an outlet for us to explore music that’s out of the box for our “usual” sounds. We’ve got more house tunes, moombahton, baile funk, trap, really just whatever we feel like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ – Omicasa (Craze & Matsu)

Listen to ‘Come On Dawg’ below and look out for more from Omicasa coming soon.

It’s difficult to come up with new ways to describe Craze. The veteran DJ and producer based in Miami has repeatedly established himself as one of the best on the decks, while simultaneously executing a plethora of genres at an elite level. From founding Slow Roast Records alongside Kill The Noise to keeping it alive with a consistent influx of fresh music, Craze contributes to the evolution of the electronic music scene in more ways than one.

Today, the talented artist returns to his label with a liquid drum and bass bop that will instantly warm your soul. Collaborating with Orlando-based vocalist Palmer Reed, ‘Stuck on You’ sees both artists shine as their strengths complement each other to a tee. In the introduction, Craze sets the scene with a summery soundscape while Palmer Reed lends captivating vocals to hook listeners instantly. The producer then flips the script with an underlying drum and bass essence, but never undermines Reed’s energy, keeping the vocals present and powerful. Even with its stabs of heavier bass, ‘Stuck on You’ sustains its uplifting spirit during its entire runtime.

‘Stuck on You’ is primed for the arrival of summer. Don’t miss it below.

When we put the label on someone as being one of the best to ever do it, we mean it. Craze is one name that will always be on our shortlist. After all, only one other person has ever won the DMC World DJ Championships for three consecutive years. Beyond being one of the finest turntablists in our generation, Craze’s versatility when it comes to his production is world-class. Effortlessly dominating everything from hip-hop, half-time, and drum and bass, the legend has been on an absolute tear recently. More recently, Craze teamed up with Bailo to give us the festival-ready trap banger ‘Danger Zone’, and now the goat has returned to the realm of drum and bass with ‘Back to Reality.’

The tone is set from the get-go with these syncopated high-hats that become the driving force of the intro. That is before all percussion elements are stripped back, and in their place comes these swooping risers. Not before long, we’re thrown into glitchy drop filled with absolutely wild up-tempo DnB flows and a collection of various melodies that periodically peek through the breaks. Add this one to an already incredible discography from one of the best to ever do it. Listen down below!

Some unassuming percussion is quickly bolstered to the max with menacing trap brass. Craze’s scratches serve as a fair warning of where things are headed. The violent lead ups the ante before the drop comes through full steam. The iconic Big L vocals are cut and sprinkled among other vicious samples for maximum impact. The break slows the energy before bringing a stripped-down and retooled trap drop that’s primed to rattle subs; from SUVs to festival speakers. From there it doesn’t let up, splicing in DnB influences and wild switch-ups that’ll make your head spin. Once you enter the ‘Danger Zone’ you may not want to leave.

When Bailo first asked to collab I knew he was gonna bring the trap goodness. So I sprinkled it with some scratches and dnb influences and voila! I think we made something special and I’m very proud of this tune!

New York meets Miami meets Houston. That’s what ‘Danger Zone’ is about. 2 absolute legends in the game combining their styles and creating magic. We wanted to get straight to the point and deliver a banger for the ages.

Back in November Craze & Four Color Zack dropped ‘Rebel’ under their 2¢ collaborative project. With samples including “you can rebel,” and “too many of us are frustrated,” I said it was an anthem for times; halfway through 2020 it couldn’t be more relevant. Giving the track 6 unique takes comes the official ‘Rebel’ remix pack featuring underground favourites thook, XAVAGE, TaDa, Rathero, plus Electro legends MSTRKRFT and a remix from the GOAT Craze.

“Rebel has such a dope message that I knew we had to give it more life with some remixes. So as usual I reached out to some of the new blood that I feel is popping to give it new life. The icing on the cake was MSTRKRFT. They hit us up saying they love the original and would like to remix ….. so DUH! We sent them stems ASAP and they delivered that amazing acidy remix. We’re very happy with this remix pack. Especially in times like this …. we need music with a message but still banging!” – Craze

Kicking things off comes a wild acid house take from MSTRKRFT. The driving flip takes listeners straight into the rave. You can feel the bass in your chest, see the strobes, and smell the sweat dripping off this one. Rathero is up next with a festival trap/club hybrid that’s meant for massive stages and systems. TaDa has been on absolute tear through 2020 and his take on ‘Rebel’ shows us why. It’s peak experimental trap; flexing some filthy sound design with a futuristic knock.

If there’s one thing you can count from thook, it’s that his tracks will absolutely fuck you up. One of the most creative minds in trap and bass crafts the remix that only he could. Sprinkling his signature dust all over ‘Rebel’ the drops will leave your brain twisted into pretzel-like proportions. Keeping the energy ramped-up comes Xavage’s dancey but filthy flip. Drippy synths will have you dropping low while the drums get your feet shuffling. This is party trap music. Bringing things to a close comes Craze’s own take on ‘Rebel.’ The legendary DJ and producer dips into his DnB roots for an energetic and gritty remix that feels like a grimy London warehouse party.

Rebel Remixes provides something for every basshead, leveraging the impactful vocals of the original with incredible new directions. With legends and underground favourites alike, this is a can’t miss. Stream below and grab it via Slow Roast Records.

At the very beginning of this crazy year, two titans in their respective corners of bass music joined forces to give us the Berry Patch EP, a collection of eclectic DnB records full of fresh and exciting sounds and rhythms. The two titans in question are of course Holly, the seasoned beat-prodigy hailing from Portugal, and the drum and bass legend himself, Machinedrum. The later is no stranger to collaboration projects, as 2019 marked a massive year for his J.E.T.S. project with Jimmy Edgar. After another successful collaboration project with Holly, the two have blessed us yet again with a collection of remixes from some of their peers with the Berry Patch: Blended EP.

To start we have Halogenix’s rendition of the hectic DnB record ‘Berry Patch,’ which begins with the familiar melody and vocal sample from the original while incorporating these huge sweeping synths in the build-up. When we reach the drop, those abrasive synths are completely stripped back to reveal pulsating subs that carry the grove between these spazzy high-pitched tones in the breaks.

Moving on we have IMANU’s glitchy take on ‘Berry Patch,’ which is full of these glitchy and majestic high-end tones combined with these deep trembling subs in the build-up. When the tension his finally released in the drop, all these elements are joined by the original vocal sample, but only this time its infinitely looped, giving this track a hypnotic field to it.

Next up, Two FUX favorites take center stage with Craze and DJ Ride’s take on ‘Yangmei.’ The track starts on the melodic side, with a liquid inspired intro and build-up before the energy is quickly turned all the way up. After a relaxed build-up, the drop offers a welcome contrast, with its gritty synths and stripped Jump-up influenced drum pattern. The two even bless up with some deep wubs on the last drop, which offers a hip-hop-influenced half-time switch-up.

Next in line is a name that has been taking the underground by storm recently, Noer the Boy, and his rendition of ‘Yangmei.’ We begin with a minimal intro and build-up, that leads to this trapped-out 808 heavy beat accompanied by some of the nastiest sound design you’ll find on the market right now.

Following this, we have Posij and Former’s take on ‘Goji,’ which offers an emotional and thoughtful breakbeat rendition of Goji. This track is filled with unconventional rhythms and creative percussion elements combined to create this wonderful soundscape.

Wrapping up this remix EP we have Thys’s from Noisia version of ‘Goji’. The DnB legend manages to turn an aggressive record, into one full of beautiful melodies, ambient synths, and emotion. This remix is truly a one-of-a-kind masterpiece and showcases Thys’s world-class talent as a songwriter. Make sure you check out the whole thing down below if you haven’t already!

The former defines what the term legend means in relation to Djing, while the latter has been consistently dropping next level trap and bass bangers forever. Today the two connect for the impressive single ‘Bring The Power Back.’ The track is a must-listen for any bass head. A distant vocal sample creeps in and loops as the track ramps up. The words “bring the power back to the street,” act as a chant that becomes more powerful with each repetition. The bassline is pulsing and hard-hitting, as sirens and futuristic sounds scatter across the scene. Craze flexes scratch flourishes throughout, adding his signature sauce. The back half of the track takes an even more sinister direction as we’re hit with “dying over money and relying on religion.” The words hit as hard as the drops in a time were some countries are placing economic interest over human life. The production mirrors the darkness and is laced with grit. Bring the power back to the streets, where the people live.

We’ve been lucky enough to premiere them all, so we figured we might as well keep the trend going. Back with yet another massive original comes ‘PUSHEMUP’ alongside CRIMES!

“Me and Crimes! went in on this one!! We love boom bap and beats so this one flowed naturally. We also made this tune for home work out sessions…so remember to do your push ups guys!” – Craze

‘PUSHEMUP’ packs all the grittiness and filth one would expect from a collab between these two. A space-inspired backdrop lingers amongst understated drums as the track slowly comes together. Bright synths flutter in like beams of light as a distorted vocal loop provides a chant-like energy. The drops are menacing, providing a mean halftime bounce and some ill sound design. This one feels like it was made for underground clubs in outer space. Who’s ready to rave on Proxima Centauri b?

Whether it’s a new mix, a live set, a merch drop or a killer new original, they never disappoint. Today the dynamic duo return with a brand new single in the form on ‘Monkey Biz.’

The track is a raucous and wild banger that’s built around a monkey sample. “I was in Miami at Craze’s spot and he had monkey YouTube sample he was messing with. We did some intense research and learned that believe it or not monkeys like bananas! When we made this discovery we knew we had to expose it. THE WORLD NEEDED TO KNOW,” Four Color Zack tells us. 2¢’s quest to bring truth to the world includes a freaked primate sample, familiar, albeit heavily processed vocals, hip-swaying percussion and futurustic bass. It’s a dizzying display that’ll have you beating your chest and getting animalistic.

When asked what they want listeners to get out of this one Zack simply replied, “Adopt a monkey.” While FUXWITHIT doesn’t promote the ownership of exotic animals, we can confirm that this shit is in fact bananas.
