DEVAULT’s sound has typically been focused on more emotional sounds and lyrics, while The Bloody Beetroots are known for their darker and harder aesthetic. ‘Hold On’ is a wash of both of these artists’ styles but there is a potent punk taste that permeates the bass lines, aggressive synths, and primal tempo- definitely an influence from Bob Rifo. There is an almost synthwave feel to this track, especially during the breaks, but it stays modern enough with the shorter rhythm and depth to its soundscape.

The mixing of both tight percussion lines and dreamy synths makes the track meaty in all the right places which is where the partnership between these artists really shines. The subtle ambient bass throbbing under the beat and synths is really delicious but so are the seamless transitions and rich tension that they create.

DEVAULT’s latest single ‘SAPPHIRE’ showcases the artist’s unique style; a sort of silky, retro dark-electro. The atmosphere of ‘SAPPHIRE’ simmers with slinking synths, twinkling lasers, and heavy handed bass. The bright rhythm is driven by lustrous, booming chords that churn up the tension through each break and build up. DEVAULT has crafted a track that feels like the beginning of an epic Sci-Fi flick, as if he is setting the a scene of an impending merger of man, machines, and music. There’s also a delicious groove that DEVAULT settles into after each drop that’s irresistibly fresh to flow to but has an emotional warmth that feels welcoming, almost homey. It is a paradoxical and sophisticated type of sound, one that marries traditional electronic with contemporary technique, and charts a course into the depths of new discoveries.
